My hairdressers used to use futura straighteners and I got a pair of those. The spring has broken in them though so I may be looking for some soon. The gerat thing about them was that you could clip in a comb attachment so you could straighten your hair with one hand. Does any other straightener do this?0

...I've heard lots of people say GHD's break really easily

I've been using GHD's for nearly 6 years, I am on my second pair. 1st pair were for my 16th birthday, 2nd pair for 18th birthday (my first one's still work perfectly but I got another pair as I was worried about them breaking from what I'd read previously, so I've always got a pair as backup as I couldn't be without them for a day as my hair is quite wild!)
I wasn't aware that the new one's are also unreliable, I thought it was a problem with a specific batch of the first lot to come out?
I've been using my new ones ever since I got them, so for nearly 4 years and they are still going strong, I really don't take any special care of them, just wipe the plates every now and then to get rid of product build-up, my first pair are there for backup and for taking on holiday (in case my suitcase goes missing!)
I thoroughly recommend GHD's, but as I've had mine for so long I've not tried any of the new ones around from different brands so can't comment on how good they are, but I don't think I could defer from GHD as my hair seems to like them! I've not noticed that my hair has even been remotely damaged from using them, infact it seems in better condition than it ever has been.
Saying that though I did see some Babyliss Pro 230 Elegance straighteners in Costco for £35 which I was tempted by as a third pair!
Just my opinion but I hope that helps someone!0 -
I bought a pair of GHD's 4 days ago from HAIRSTRAIGHTENERS365 4 days ago and they are knackered. I have asked for a refund as I need to get some for a wedding on saturday and these will not be replaced in time. They don't want to know and say I have to send them back to the manufacturer. I will be contacting trading standards tomorrow. GHD's Godawful Heating Disaster is what I say.0

My daughters wide plate remingtons are working intermittently since Sunday (she has had them 2 or 3 years now and uses them daily) and so needed some new ones as soon as.
I have ordered her some new Remingtons from Amazon (which she is paying for and also an extra £9 for express delivery) which are reduced to £30. These are them

There are 8 reviews giving these 5 stars on each. Many of the comments refer to them being better than ghd's of which they have previously owned. These are wet to straight but we are assuming they can be used just dry as normal straighteners (hope so anyway).0 -
Exactly the same thing happened to me. I spoke to my sister whos a hairdresser and she managed to get me a prepaid envelope to send them back to Jemella (the people behind GHD). (the address is on the GHD website)
I'd had my straighteners for about 3 years, had no receipt or box and just popped them in the post with my name, address and telephone number.
About 2 weeks passed and i'd given up hope of my straighteners returning but low and behold i received a brand new pair of straighters with an apology for the trouble i had encountered.
Send them back, you can't beat GHD!!!0 -
I need a pair of MK3 GHD's.
Apparently they have stopped making them but surely they haven't stopped selling them ?.
