    I did the research on alternative flights and by cancelling & rebooking I could save just over £100. Travel Trolley were quick off the mark & tried to get me on the flights a day later, rang back & emailed me when they said they would. No complaints about the customer service, only reservation was that they don't refund the credit card charges (£16.57). On the other hand Travelup a different company who I booked my grandsons ticket with (1 week later than ours), have not replied to emails, not returned calls, not responded to voicemail and I'm still waiting to hear what alternative arrangements they are offering.
    Thank you all for your responses, it is reassuring that strangers take up their time to offer help.
