!Friday 29 May 2015, what small dfw stuff will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.!

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Oh no, I typed a long reply and my fat fingers hit the back button

Hope nobody minds me starting the thread this morning. The powers of copy and paste (adding a random typo to the title alon the way) on a phone. Who would have ever imagined that when sat snoozing in front of Windows 3.1 eh?

Yesterday turned out to be a spend free day as I stayed for one diet coke (on the initial works tab) and left. I sometines find now that because I don't drink I can find it difficult to mingle with big groups of people I don't know very well.

Today will be spendy - I am in work late and have lunch and a late snack with me but forgot my breakfast and it's my turn for team milk

When I get home tonight I need to then get food ready for tomorrow as I'm going with friends and my two children to a games expo thing in Birmingham. In an attempt to save where I can, we're taking our food and drinks with us so that they can treat themselves with more stuff to clutter their rooms with instead :rotfl:

Morning all, Thanks for the start Shortie :)

Its dh's payday today so I've rushed downstairs to check the bank & get it on the spreadsheet (as this is his first proper pay since payrise so we didn't know exactly what he was going to be getting)
    :j:j:j:j:j:j:j

    In other news....
:j Mr T delivery has come with an extra pack of tomatoes (got this shop after reading :money: email with the extra 500 points on a £60 shop - we will convert these into £20 worth of days out tokens :) )
:j Post has arrived with a sample product for us to test from one of the survey sites :j
:j Kids have finally finished the porridge sachets for breakfast (won't be buying them again as I had forgotten how easy proper porridge was to make!)
:j Today is going to be a NSD (excluding mr t as they are essentials)
:j I've cut open my tube of handcream & dh's facewash so that we use it all up, can't believe I didn't start doing this years ago! There is at least 5 days worth of handcream left in there!
:j Ds2's present has arrived in the post this morning to for learning to ride his bike, the item he wanted was out of stock everywhere except amaz0n who were selling a normally £20-25 item for £40.99  but I told ds2 that I couldn't find the item and offered to give him the money to look round the toyshop for something else, but he came up with a different set of the skylanders that he wanted me to look for which I did, it was £22.84 on Amaz0n which meant I could use my vouchers from swag$ucks to pay for it
:j Used some of the last shower spray!
Time to head of to swimming lessons now, then it will be back home to do some homework, reading with the kids :)

Have a good day all, I'll be back later with a proper list :)

    Morning all :j

Thanks for starting the thread Shortie :)

Raining today :( but I suppose the garden needs it!
    List for today:
    Check banks
Make a loaf in BM (in progress)
Shuffle contents of 2 freezers after defrosting and cleaning both :A The freezer part of the kitchen fridge freezer currently contains only the Ocado reduced price meat offers that arrived last night, and everything else is crammed into the small upright in the conservatory.
Finish getting accounts ready for accountant to cast her eye over and do income and expenditure accounts or whatever it is called and submit tax returns.
Help OH stack the firewood he has just collected (done, got quite wet, cuppa called for I think!)
    HM meals from stores
    Clean bathroom
Do any surveys that are available - I have been doing Pinecone and Yougov for years, but their surveys are only occasional. I have investigated onepoll and swagbucks this week. One poll seems ok, but I can't get on with SB :( Being older, early retired/self employed, without children at home and not a fan of pay TV etc I am screened out of most things, and have tech issues with their site - so not for me.
Go to sales unit and tidy up / restock as necessary ready for (hopefully) weekend onslaught :rotfl:
Washing out to dry if it stops raining!
Water any pots that need it (even if it rains, the pots still need to be checked, and I have loads of them )

Right, better get on with it. Hope everyone is having a nice day :)

  • Hi. I was going to say 'Morning' but its now 'Good Afternoon'!

Thanks for starting us off Shortie.

Well I am very pleased with myself - 3 days ago I paid the last payment on my credit card, so I am now

    :T :j:j DEBT FREE :j:j:T

So as of now I will continue with the thrifty lifestyle so that I can save an emergency fund, then a savings fund BEFORE splashing out on some much needed new clothes, shoes and hair cut.

Alas I forgot a £400 payment for our summer holiday, so I had to forgo first lot of savings to pay it, but at least I had it there to pay.

Now if I can just get my 3 children to not want anything ever again - I'd be rich! ;)

Today, I have to spend as it's my best friend's birthday Sunday, but pressie is all budgeted for.

    Also I will/have:

Hang washing on airer - pouring outside
    All meals from stores
Limit kids TV - more art, puzzles, playing pool - better for them and cheaper for me :)
Do ironing before it turns into a mountain!
    Check banking online
Lots more OU revision - exam next Fri morning - am totally stressed about it :( - my brain just seems to forget everything I have studied.

    Have a great day everyone.
