Thinking of buying a Tablet
Comments
-
Get one with an "unlocked" 3G/4G SIM slot and then you can use it almost anywhere with a suitable SIM, and not just where you can connect to local WiFis - we use ASUS FonePad tablets, but there are a few others, with GifGaff SIMs. These tablets are not very common, but well worth looking at.
PS1: Why, oh WHY, are there not more tablets, AND laptops, with SIM slots as they are far more useful?
PS2: If buying an Android tablet, go for one that runs Android 4.4 or later and has a microSD card slot as they appear make much better use of the card for data storage, so you don't clog up the on-board memory.
Your last point is not true.4.4 (kitkat) has limitations on what you can save to an sd card, other versions of android less so0 -
Why do you have to pay forever?Buy Apple - and then be forced to pay "forever" to stay in the "game" - Not on YOUR Nelly!
I have an iPad, and it's been an excellent buy; I've no need to upgrade to the latest model, as the one I've got is just fine.
As for the upgrade game, one of the first responses in this thread suggested waiting for a newer Windows-based model, so the "next model" mentality applies across the board.0 -
Depends if you are looking to save over the short term, or longer...
If the item you buy costs less but isn't as good, then have you really saved?
I understand that, I was just pointing out that "more expensive is better" is not true in all cases. There are tablets with the same or better quality available for less money. Of course there are also cheap bad quality tablets, but I was not referring to them.0 -
Yes, absolutely; you can't just say it costs more so it's better.I understand that, I was just pointing out that "more expensive is better" is not true in all cases. There are tablets with the same or better quality available for less money. Of course there are also cheap bad quality tablets, but I was not referring to them.
However, when I bought a tablet three or four years ago, I took the above into account, and my decision was the iPad; I've never regretted it, 2nd guessed it, or anything.
So, the iPad is a quality product and it costs more than cheaper tablets.0 -
Pleeeease DONT buy a windows tablet ..
The hardware is lacking, there are hardly any apps, and they will most likely be phased out as soon as Microsoft has sold the masses of stock it has in its warehouses !
Ipads are good - yes - but no more so than a decent galaxy tab
And the galaxy will be much cheaper ..
Do that0 -
Tablets that run full windows are fine, it's the windows rt tablets you want to avoid.0

Not quite correct. As has been said WRT machines have been cleared out.Pleeeease DONT buy a windows tablet ..

Don't believe all you read about the apps lacking. All the important ones are there. Once W10 is on the phones/Tablets Android and IOS app developers will be able to easily put there apps onto windows and they will run on all devices not just phones.
I don't understand your begging stance, it's hardly going to affect you.....;)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
A PIRATE
Not an Alcoholic...!0 -
If you have no brand allegiance and just want the best tablet for your money, the Galaxy seems the obvious choice. That was the conclusion I came to after many hours research.0

I have just sent off for this very tablet. I have a Lenovo 10-70 tablet already, which runs Android 4.4, and have no issues with the brand. I also have a Nexus 7 running 5.1, again no problems.
My reasoning for buying is the free upgrade to Win 10 which Microsoft assure us will have continuous upgrades so I am hoping this tablet won't be obsolete in 3 years time. I realise the actual hardware will be surpassed but if the OS is current I am sure I will find a use for it.0
