Newbie in need. Thomson Delay Compensation

Hi everyone
New to MSE forums and in need of advice. My name is Jaime, last year my family and I were delayed for over 4hrs for our flight with Thomson from Sanford, Orlando to Manchester UK.
We wrote to them to complain and compensation after reading about it on here but they have replied that they are not responsible due to
" the fault being delayed due to the changing on a VFSG Generator. This being the discovery of a manufacturing defect by the air carrier therefore considered as extraordinary circumstances."
Has anyone got any advice as to whether this is genuine or should we pursue this further via the CAA.
Many thanks
Jaime

Do not take to CAA (useless, toothless, worthless) but read the excellent Vauban's Guide. Future posts (doubt needed) should be on Thomson thread.0

Hi Jaime
This may well be a long slog but settle down, I think you have excellent prospects of victory.
First, find and read thoroughly 'Vauban's Guide' on how to proceed logically. You seem to have done the first bit by getting Thomson's to identify the technical fault. It's probably time to issue proceedings either yourself via MCOL or via a law firm that do it for free.
The 'hidden manufacturing defect' argument is merely the latest wriggle by airlines and doesn't seem to be much of an excuse..
Also read a lot of posts - you will soon pick things up. Please put future posts in the right 'thread' as it keeps the forum tidy.
Good hunting!

Hi Jaime,
You can write to the CAA but they do very little and they have virtually no power on issues such as flight delay comp. If you need further help once you've had a read online, send your email add and i will email you.Speedyjaime wrote: »Hi everyone
