  • I don't see a need for a newer card.

Just take all the cards you have, including rubbishy debit cards as emergency backups, and prioritise use of the best value ones such as Clarity.
  • Thanks PeacefulWaters ....
Just to be clear, you are saying that I withdraw any cash I need on the Clarity or Santander cards ?

    Clarity, yes.

Check the specific T&Cs of your Santander card.
  • Hi All, I opened an account with WeSwap after reading guidance on the site, had issues on a recent trip to the US (las vegas) tried at 3 different ATM's to withdraw cash and the card was always declined. Contacted WeSwap on my return and asked for a refund they told me I would have to pay a £5 fee to get my own money back. I said this was not acceptable so they agreed toe scalate to the customer services team and mail me back, 3 weeks on and no response so i have changed cash back to Sterling and withdrawn at a till here losing a small transaction fee.
Plenty of prepaid card options out there but i would avoid this one if travelling to the USA.
  • Any reason why Kalixa Pay is not included?

I might be looking at the wrong card but the Kalixa has an application fee, fees for cash withdrawal and fee to load the card using you debit/credit card.
  • Can I load a prepaid card (e.g. Monzo or Revolut) using my credit card, or will that count as cash and really hurt my credit score?
  • Is there a prepay card that I can get for my son to use in the US?
I want to be able to load it but he needs to be able to use it to spend. If the account is in my name, what cards are available that allow him to have a card.

Assuming that your son is under 18, have a look at Soldo:
