who said anything about it being your receipt , or even the same day? , start thinking and clicking with that bad camera ,

With regard to Aldi, I did do a shop there on that date but after finding no reference on my bank statement it seems that I must have paid cash on that visit so it's a long shot as to whether I'll have the receipt but I'll have a damn good look.

Aldi can, if they are prepared to do so, check back till records for the day and issue you with a duplicate receipt. Can't guarantee they'll play ball with you, but they have done it in the past for some posters on here. Worth a try perhaps.
