Ryanair mobile app..

I've seen ryanair do a mobile app so you can put your boarding passes on there instead of printing out on paper..
Has anyone used this app yet or have opinions about this app.
I,m going on holiday in July and flying with ryanair and not sure if the app booking is relieable or printing is best..

Also what is the My Ryanair login for, do I need to open an account to use Ryanair mobile.

If you print the boarding passes and take them with you, if it does go wrong with the app then you have a perfectly good backup with the printed ones.

I've never made bookings on the app, but used it a few times for check-in and boarding passes (iPhone version), haven't had any problems. I don't recall needing an account with Ryanair to access them, think you just need the booking reference etc (could be wrong, it's been a few months since I last used it).

You could of course print them as well as a backup, I don't bother since I just add them to Passbook, which takes the app out of the equation. Don't know if the same thing exists for Android. I've never done it, but you can put multiple boarding passes on a phone (up to 4 or 5) if everyone is on the same booking.

You have to be an EU/EEA national to use it, and there are a few airports where it's not in use. You can find more details here

Works great for both booking flights and checking in/boarding pass.

I tend to take a screenshot of the boarding pass on my phone just I case there are any issues with the app at the airport. But I've never had an issue.
  • I've also used the app as a boarding pass and it works just fine. Remember to pack your mobile charger, and make sure your mobile is charged up enough for when you get to the airport!

I've got the app and checked in, thanks for the tip about taking a screen shot! My boarding passes are available even when my phone is offline which is a relief in case of connection problems! :)

Having used the app. I am of the opinion that Ryanair have invented YET ANOTHER way to scam and rip its customers off.
    Step forward... THE RYANAIR APP.
I booked some flights on the app and the flights were priced in Euros. When you book the flight, the app gives you the option to reject the Ryanair company rate and chose the 'official' Euro rate.
However, when you select the "reject Ryanair's rate" option, it still books the flight at Ryanair's far inferior rate which adds an approx. 8% surcharge on the price. (EG on my flight which should have cost £450, I was actually charged nearly £40 more due to this scam)
SO BE WARNED, Before you chose to book a flight with this app, be aware it WILL NOT give you the actual exchange rate but instead always defaults to the "Rip Off" direct currency conversion with Ryanair

Once you have the boarding pass "saved" on your phone, does it stay on the phone offline i.e. you don't need a data connection to show it at the airport?
