Vodafone won't give me a contract but credit history is excellent???

gjchester, we don't share a name but when I initially gave them my postcode and door number, I was told that "two number 5's have popped up". Basically, I'd like a manual review of my status so they can see that there actually isn't a problem. What I would like to know is, why would Vodafone give me contact details to the relevant department, yet said department ignores my emails? How can I get them to respond?0

macman, I've lived at my address for 15 years, currently have a mobile contract with a competitor and have owned several credit cards in the past, paying off each balance in full each month. I also have other utility bills in my name and I've been paying for those since at least 2010. Thank you for your help, but I'm still stumped. I have an Equifax report but I'll cross check with Experian and see if that sheds any light on my situation.0

"have owned several credit cards in the past, paying off each balance in full each month".
Know, I don't know why but I was told by our mortgage adviser, bank and various other people that if you pay off your cards, in full, every month your credit score can go down! It's something to do with you not being "profitable" for lenders. Nothing to do with mobile phones I know but there we go!
Do any of your credit cards have 0% interest? If so Just pay back slightly lower than full but more than minimum for a few months and watch your credit score go up a bit!0 -
That's nonsense. As long as someone pays off and never misses a payment lenders are imporessed. Outstanding balances do nothing for a credit score. Networks have their own criteria which include a certain number of contracts with the same network in a given period of time. Some have an overall cap.0

I'm about to give up and go to o2. I've been a customer of their's in the past but gave up the contract because I no longer needed two phones. Does anyone have any advice regarding getting Vodafone to investigate my query? They still haven't acknowledge the detailed email I sent to the address given by their customer assistant.0

See the Vodafone complaints thread and contact the WRT as instructed on thier replies to that thread; start from the last page and work back until you find their posts. However, credit rejections tend to be fixed in stone for three months without explanation. Credit departments don't talk to customers - and with Vodafone, the only people who do will be numpties trained to send you round in ever increasing circles.0

Thanks for your help everyone. I got through to their credit escalation team but they took so long, I just went to Virgin mobile who offered a better phone/plan for cheaper *shrugs*
Oh well, at least my credit truly isn't half bad0
