selling unwanted prizes?

I am quite new to comping (after a long break) I have had a three win so far yay me, two of which I wanted (2 small prises) and have kept but my most recent was a second prise that I really won't use. now I have been thinking of selling on ebay but it seems a bit cheeky to me. do others sell on unwanted prises? it's value is about £120.
thanks
thanks

If you have no use for it or present for family or friends then sell, try gumtree first that is for free...Can't Smile Without You0

Yes sell it, I enter comps for things I want and for things I can sell in order to buy the things I want.
A couple of prize sales just financed new curtains throughout.
It's entirely up to you what you do with a prize.0 -
I only really enter for things I want or know family would want, I'd feel bad entering a comp to win something knowing full well If I won it I'd just sell it for the cash- I'd be thinking what is someone else like me was entering a particular comp hoping to win because it was something they wanted but could not afford to buy? each to their own I suppose. I mean if it's a second/runner up prize you weren't entering for and nobody has particular use for it I'd feel a bit less bad about it.2018 wins-12wins0

I never have unwanted prizes but unless there are any restrictions in the T&Cs it is up to you what you do with them (I saw one the other day where someone tried to sell some high priced tickets which the T&Cs did not permit and they ended up with nothing as the tickets were voided).0

You'll get some people on here having a go, but my opinion is that as long as it's not tickets, or signed stuff, or something else that really appeals to fans then it's not an issue. Obviously kids comps (ie run for kids) are out, and as I don't have kids I don't enter anything with baby equipment etc or family holidays as that would be a waste. But otherwise, the company running the competition are doing it for publicity, it's not out of the goodness of their heart, so it's up to each person to decide their own boundaries without other people judging them. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I've sold a few prizes before, 2 of them I was delighted to win them and then gutted to have to sell them, but at the time we really needed the money and they were decent items that got us a good price. The other thing I sold was a set of books I ended up with as a runners up prize and had no use for.
I don't ever enter anything with the express aim of winning it to sell it. I always think, there is someone out there that would REALLY love to win this prize, if it's something I dont' really want then I just don't enter for it. I know lots of people don't see it that way, but I do.0 -
What you do with your prizes is your business and no one elses.
I too only enter for what my family or myself could use but if I got a runners up prize or a prize I did not want I would sell it.

I think everyone is entitled to do whatever they like their wins! Keep it, give it as a gift, sell it to raise money for something you really like or for money to help you and your family...whatever... we all have different circumstances and priorities so you do what you think is right!
Just ignore others who think otherwise! If you enter to win fairly than the prize is yours to whatever you wish with it!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I mostly only enter for things I want for myself and family or gifts for friends. But that's purely because I don't have the time to enter for everything that could sell. I don't knock anyone for doing so if they have time. Even so I have ended up selling some things because they didn't fit, weren't as expected, or were runner up prizes. And sometimes if its a site that you comp with regularly it's quicker to just enter everything than filter out the odd prize that you don't really want.2018 - £562 2019 - £130 2020 - £276 2021 - £106 2022 - £1400
