    What about a cruise?

If you pick the right itinerary, at some ports you can do a beach visit, and at other ports you can do sightseeing or an activity.

Plus, your OH can sit round the pool on sea days

Don't worry about budget, or time of year....just throw some suggestions out there.
    thanks

I think that the answers to these 2 questions are key.

No point suggesting a destination if it's going to be the monsoon season when you plan to travel. smiley-rolleyes010.gif

Sri Lanka is great, so is Bali but you need to consider the weather.

Re Michele-p's suggestion for Parga - it's a lovely place, we went twice last year.
But it is North West Greece and we had torrential rain on 2 days even early July.
All the places Michele recommends to visit from Parga are wonderful and I'd add Meteora to the list too.

You can also do full day boat tours to different islands.

We did Thailand 3 days in Phuket (beach), 3 days in Chiang Mai (history, culture, amazing), 3 days in Bangkok (city, culture) 3 days in Phuket. Instead of Phuket I'd recommend Krabi - it's much nicer and there's a bit more to do. Thailand offers loads of cookery classes too, which might be of interest to you both and you could do trips to islands on your 'beach days'.

Don't know your budget but Hawaii? Or Australia - Bridge climb in Sydney, Blue Mountains, great food and shops then North to Cairns - barrier reef and beaches, Cape Tribulation and rainforest. Also coming into summer over there so weather should be nice!

Cooking holiday in Thailand? Could do a two centre thing perhaps - Bangkok and somewhere else.

Hmmm, off the top of my head I would say:

    The Philippines,
    Mexico,
    Sri Lanka.

    .

Which is why I clarified in post 8 that we are happy to go any time in the next 12 months to accommodate any weather issues. :)
Budget not an issue (unless you start suggesting 10k+....lol)

I think Oz/NZ/Fiji probably a little far tbh
Greece looks very interesting ...that's a great suggestion!
I'm hoping to point her in the direction of south korea/japan, but she's not very adventurous, so will take some persuading!

    Cuba looking favourite so far

    thanks for your help everyone

but at £10,175 pp, I guess it's out of your price range. ;)
