Honeymoon suggestions

Evening everyone,
We are trying to decide where we could go on honeymoon. The problem is that we like completely different things from our holidays!
Normally it isn't a major problem, but would like our honeymoon to be a trip that we both love.
My missus to be is easy....she just wants to sit on a beach all day long and cook herself. lol.....This bores me to tears in about five minutes. I don't mind the heat, it's the doing nothing that does me in.
I prefer my holiday to be an experience, seeing local things, history, experiencing the culture etc. I am happy to walk around, hike, rafting...anything like that
At the moment I am thinking of somewhere that could involve a bit of beach at the start or end, then off we go somewhere.
Hopefully you clever lot will have some suggestions that I haven't thought of!
Don't worry about budget, or time of year....just throw some suggestions out there.
thanks

Grenada; history; interesting and with beaches to die for. In fact most of the Caribbean Islands would fit your remit. As little or as much as you want to do.0

I used to live in the Seychelles, and thought that beaches of that quality could not be found anywhere else... then I discovered Cuba, which has beaches of that same high standard, as well as lots to see and do.
The only problem with Cuba is that the woman are so beautiful that your OH will feel jealous and insecure!0 -
Phu Quoc and the Mekong Delta.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Cyprus- nice beaches and a lot of history or sightseeing- I would recommend the Sunrise Pearl hotel in Protaras.0

Really ? I found Grenada to be very resort orientated, little to do in the evenings outside resorts , and although quite pretty and easy to drive round not a lot going on, the Caribbean is fine if you want to lay in the sun , but pretty limited otherwise.
OP what time of year are you planning ? Italy is great for sightseeing and sunVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
Mexico is incredible! We booked several excursions too including dune buggying around the countryside and towns (blinking scary), zip lining, swimming with dolphins (wouldn't do it again), catamaran trips and visiting a local school and Mayan village.
We stayed in the Riviera Maya - a much quieter part of Mexico when compared with Cancun!
I would go back in a heartbeat.0 -
Thanks for the ideas so far guys....keep them coming

Peelirocco - Wedding happening soon for a number of reasons, so no planned time for honeymoon. We are happy to wait if need be, for weather etc.
Cuba/Thailand/mexico all good shouts i'll go and have a look at now.0 -
Have a look at Parga in Greece, it's a beautiful town, not many English, (mainly Italian and Greek people) built around a stony cove. There is a small Island in the middle, you can swim over. The fish are amazing, great for snorkelling whilst your other half is cooking on the beach.
Hire a car, go to the Archeron river, which is breath-taking cold, but you can wade up it a few miles, then let the current bring you back. There are ancient ruins on the way there.
Spend a day driving to the Vikos Gorge, which is the deepest in the world. Loads of amazing stone bridges to see and beautiful villages. Stay the night at the top of the world, the tiny village of mikro papingo - you have to park and walk into the town. You can see the Gorge from the window where we stayed http://www.diaspapigo.gr/default_eg.asp or there is a very swanky spa hotel
This is seriously the best place we have ever been to on a holiday, enough of a buzz around the harbour at night, plenty of tavernas, beaches you can get to by boat taxi. Just stunning!
In Parga the nearer to the harbour the better, a lot of tour operators stick brits a 10-15 min walk up a hill. We went solo and stayed right on the harbour here: http://www.dallasstudios.gr/ (basic, but a view to die for) and then here the 2nd time we went http://www.parga-appartments.com/gallery.php (owner will not return emails, but great if you phone him!). The Dracos Hotel gets a great reputation for a package, but it is away from the harbour front.
Sorry to go on, but this is the best place we have found in Greece, and we've been to a lot.0 -
You know what i would do, i would go up to Svalbard or Alta in Norway, and i would see the Northern Lights, and have a look at the polar bears.
If this is too extreme for you, try try the buddhist temples of ancient asia, or the pyramids, or japan. Let your self go , forget beaches and beer they are boring.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -
Mombasa in Kenya is like Paradise. White sand, palm trees and warm Indian ocean. You can go out in a glass-bottomed boat snorkelling, fish or whatever. The North coast lagoon is huge and protected by a reef so no predators can come in.You can travel, go to National parks. I saw a pride of six lionesses shading beneath a tree. I visited a Masai village. There is loads to do.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
