Tesco's Online Price Difference...

I am new to the MSE forum so not sure if this has been mentioned before or not (apologies if it has). I did a shop online with Tesco's this Afternoon and have found that i have been overcharged. I am usually a savvy shopper, making sure i get the best deals. I put a number of items in my basket today that were on offer e.g for a £1, and I since have noticed that my order confirmation states the original prices for these items. The confirmation shows an amount at the bottom that has been deducted (Multi-Savings), but as far as i can work out this only includes my multi offers e.g 3 for £10 on Meat. I haven't had the order delivered as yet (will be delivered later this evening) and i know that Tesco's don't take the money until they know they can fulfill all your order. I was going to wait until they actually took the monies to see how much they charge me (minus amendments) before complaining... but has anyone else noticed this?

If you read the small print it states that you are charged the price on the day of delivery.

So if something is on offer for £1 today but the offer ends today, and you order it today but for delivery tomorrow you will pay tomorrows price (whatever that may be)

Its the same for all supermarket delivery services!

They do say they ordered this afternoon.

OP says ordered today for delivery today.

It's unlikely that an order placed this afternoon will be for delivery today - I've not seen a supermarket give same day delivery on shopping. I'm happy to be corrected (with proof).

So the pricing shown on the order confirmation may well show tomorrow's pricing ... supermarkets will know what pricing is planned for when, well in advance.

Very unlikely its going to be delivered today.

I know of no delivery service that does a same day delivery option.

I know with sainsburys if you add items on offer and choose a slot that's after the offer ends a screen pops up and will let you know of any changes to promotions.

You can get same day delivery - when I open Tesco to do a delivery it says "check out a new order or amend an old one before 8:30am for delivery after 7pm on the same day" so it could be they've done this.

Please note that the prices on our Grocery website are guide prices only. The actual price you pay is the price charged in store when your order is put together for delivery.....Any special offers i.e. 'Buy One Get One Free' are highlighted in your website basket, and will be deducted from your bill on the day of your delivery if the offer is still applicable......When your order is delivered you may return any item and receive a full refund if you consider that the difference between the price charged and the guide price shown on the Grocery website is unacceptable.

Yes, Tesco does offer same day delivery now but I've only seen it if you order first thing for evening delivery, not where you order in the afternoon for same day delivery. They do a click and collect where you order by 1pm for collection after 4pm though, or perhaps the OP is in a trial area?

OP, when you were doing your order, did you select the delivery day first or did you fill your basket then choose the delivery after? If you chose the delivery last, it's possible that they were showing you prices that start tomorrow (since most deliveries would take place tomorrow or after), but when you later selected the day it changed the prices and you didn't notice. I've just checked and my order confirmation email does normally show offers e.g. the half price J2O showed at £2 in my email.

To be fair, if there is a problem, Tesco have excellent customer service so getting a refund is straightforward.
