Any way to get out of early upgrade fees?

Hello
I've been looking to 'upgrade' my current O2 contract to a sim only tariff so I can buy the One Plus One handset but I'm concerned that, with 5-6 months left on my existing deal, I'll be hit with a massive charge.
Does anyone have any good advice on how to reduce or eliminate this charge? My current handset is just awful and it's driving me mad!
Thanks in advance!

Death or bankruptcy are the only two sure fire ways.
At the end of the day O2 have to cover the cost of the handset you got two years ago. That said if you are on a refresh tariff you can simple pay off the balance of the handset cost and cancel the airtime agreement with no further cost.
If your not on the refresh contract you could buy the phone you want now, sell the one you have and use that to offset some of the line rental for the next 5-6 months. Then when the minimum term comes up then move to a sim only (although some o2 contracts drop automatically as 24 months as the device is paid off, possibly only the refresh tarrifs).0 -

What's the point in switching to sim-only?0 -
