Urgent help needed on parking Debt recovery letter

Hi today I got a letter from Debt Recovery Plus saying that I own them £150 for an unpaid parking ticket from October 2012 at what looks to be a motorway service area. They say Parking Eye have written to me about this 'recently' and that I have ignored them. THIS IS THE FIRST I HAVE EVER HEARD ABOUT THIS!! what options do I have? Is this a scam? They say that I have till the 6th June to pay before other options are started. Please can someone give me some advice on this. I phoned them up but hung up after 'being in a queue for 10 mins' as it is a 0844 number I take it I am being charged for this?

Moneysaving expert.com, Motoring,Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking, **NEWBIES,!! PRIVATE PARKING TICKET OLD OR NEW...I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
I have been checking my travel back that far. On the date in question I was parked at the services as I have a problem with my car which would not start and had to wait for the RAC to come and fix my car. This was done with a new Battery (I have the receipt from the RAC). This may well have put me over 2 hours but as I say no one has ever contacted me about this till now about this. Is any of this mitigating circumstances etc.? I have to say I am uncomfortable about ignoring this letter.0

Again, please read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES. This tells you everything you need to know on what to do about debt collector letters and why (ignore, because they are toothless) how to appeal to parking companies should you receive a notice to keeper, how to complain to parking compamnies and their ATAsif you get begging letters from debt collectors when you haven'r received a NTK, and all the acronyms used on this site.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Nobody is going to suggest you pay. Nobody is going to suggest you even contact a debt collector.
You're seriously over-thinking this. The advice in the NEWBIES thread is there because it is tried and tested.0 -
Maybe I am a bit wound after receiving this letter but reading the newbies forum I did not seem to see anything about what happens when you receive the first letter as a DRP letter 32 months after the alleged offence. I don't see how to appeal to court or any other way. Again my apologies but am I missing something?0

BTW is there any sort of time period that they have to be writhing within to still chase me? 32 months seems a long time to not receive any documentation. Also as I have never received any letters from parking eye which would have been the original ticket plus information I have no way of checking the exact overstay etc. Because the only document I have is the demand for payment of £150 today from DRP who provide a date and some ref numbers which mean nothing to me do I need to ask for further info or not?
Again I am sorry for the wimping out but this has been a bit of a shock in the post today out of the blue.0 -
You could complain to the BPA that this is the first letter you have received and that you have been denied an appeal.0
