Quotes - How to multiples

I've seen some replies, whether rather than one quote followed by the answer, then there may be a quote from one post and reply, followed by a quote from another post and reply.
Or, a partial quote and reply from one thread, followed by another section of the same post and reply, and again section and reply.
Without wishing to appear 'thick' - how is this done. It's just that my perception is if you hit the 'quote' button you'll have a new box, I wouldn't imagine it would go onto one in process that hasn't been submitted!?

And how do you get 68490209 and 68478892 ?
Is it not simpler just to clickand then
like explained above - so that everything is done automatically? Then add your comments.
If you did mean using the buttons, not typing/copying everything manually, I don't see what you tried to add to the post #2, but this might be just me...0 -
All the info seems to apply to the 'old look' - can you explain how to multi-quote with pictures of the new-look buttons?0

The new look button is this
Should be at the bottom of each post on a desktop or laptop, or perhaps available by clicking the + icon if you are on a mobile/tablet type view.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
