What do you store your eggs in?

Possibly the cheapest solution is a visit to the supermarket - sounds like you use enough eggs that an extra dozen won't hurt and then you have these wonderful holders that last for ages, that are made of recyclable material and keep the eggs separate rather than knocking together in a bowl. Oh and an extra dozen eggs :O)
When the boxes get too tatty, they can be reused in the greenhouse - make lovely potato chitters !
Alternatively - try and scrounge one of the cardboard trays they put the eggs in in the farm shop ...0 -
If you are a crafter and have lots of yarn ends (or a friend who does) this could be a money saving solution http://marrose-ccc.com/tutorials-2/yarn-ends-bowl/0

Or just ask someone you know if you can have a couple of egg boxes - most people buy their eggs in boxes so someone will have them.
Otherwise, rootle around in the back of cupboards and find some container that rarely get used or only used a couple of times a year.0 -

We get our eggs in large flimsy egg trays, so that's not a practical place for them to stay either. I have study plastic egg trays that came from Ikea years ago, but if I didn't I'd probably use a bowl or basket, lined with a cloth napkin/nice scrap fabric to stop them breaking on the bottom.
If you are crafty, maybe you could make a fabric "box" or crochet/knit felted basket? I considered crocheting some sort of egg hammock, and hanging it from hooks under the wall cupboards, but was afraid of the horrible mess that would result if it ever fell apart!

I just use one of the bowls I also use for fruit/veg/onions or anything else that needs keeping out of the fridge and on kitchen surfaces. These are nice bits of pottery/china that I've been given or picked up over the years. None have a specific purpose, and can be used from anything for serving salad to putting pot pourri or plants in depending on the need.0

I knew it was worth posting. So many canny ideas
I have tipped out my odds and ends from the wicker basket in my bedroom. It now houses my eggs...
but being a crocheter I will be trying out the yarn ends bowl in the foreseeable future.
It's always great to ask even the most stupid of question.0 -
I leave them on the worktop, in the box they came in. I don't always have eggs in the house though because I buy boxes of 15, then have to eat all 15 before they go off...by which time I'm sick of eggs for another few weeks.0

I leave them in the box they come in out on the worktop at room temperature. I have saved boxes and take them to the egg farm when I go to buy eggs from there so will bring you some next time we meet up!0

Hubby bought me this when he did up the kitchen - rarely buy eggs in summer as friends 'donate' them
*Edit - just remembered an amazing egg holder an elderly neighbor had - it was 12 pottery monks in a circle, and the eggs formed their bald heads - fab........Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
