Good Morning All
On a mobile so sorry for not posting the full thread intro, but to any newbies, the idea of this thread is to provide daily support & cheerleading to those who need it to kick this demon debt once and for all!
So what small things will you do today to make a difference? Examples may be line drying your washing instead of using the tumble. Making your family a packed lunch for a planned day trip instead of buying expensive food once out. So come and tell us all about your efforts :)

    Hi All
I hope everyone is well on this lovely Wednesday? It's glorious sunshine today in se London. Day 1 with the grandparents went fine. They managed a day trip into central London which was enjoyed by all. Today I think they may be chilling in the garden this morning then coming to meet us this afternoon for my 2nd scan. We've decided not to find out the sex. How many real surprises do we ever get in life? And ultimately a healthy Babe is all I care about.

Last night when I got in I made us a massive stir fry which used up a lot of the chopped salad from the day before. So all I really had to cook fresh was the prawns and rice. The cost of a take away for 4 adults and a child is going to be massive compared to that.

I wacked a big wash out onto the line this morning before we left. I think it will be dry in about an hour.

OH took a packed lunch today & I have cycled to work so far. So all the small things that help.

    bob

    Morning Bob!
Good end to the day yesterday, lots of money saved on the not-take-away front, so well done! Still one of my biggest weaknesses. Mainly cos I'm lazy....

    Today -
Breakfast at home - saved £2.30
Walk to work, no petrol burned.
Lunch from home - saved £3.50

So already a fiver up on today!

    Have a good morning savers!
This year is going down the drain - £8500

    Hi Everyone,

Today is the last day before payday so I'm looking forward to updating my signature tomorrow. Needless to say it'll be a NSD as I've only got £3 in the bank :o

    - NSD
    - All meals from stores
    - Trip to the cinema tonight (I have an unlimited card - it's worth the monthly cost as we go to the cinema a lot so multiple trips out for less than £20 a month!)
    - Busy at work again :(
    - Finally heard back from Music Magpie - they'll be sending my money soon apparently :T
    - FPL and surveys to check
    - Post a cheque to my mam as she has picked up a birthday present for my grandma from me and paid on collection (they live at the other end of the country :()
    - Have a think about what furniture and clothes I want to put on ebay - I have Monsoon dresses with the labels still on!!!

    Morning all :)
    List for today:
    Check banks (done)
Get accounts / tax stuff ready for accountant :( (in progress)
    Clean out chicken house
    Water pots in front garden
Lamb shanks (from freezer) and veg in slow cooker for supper
Sort freezers out after defrosting one yesterday, need a new inventory. Not a great deal in there (by my standards anyway :o) as I like to have some space available for home grown veg and fruit that we can't eat immediately.
Pop to sales unit and move things round / add new bits, to keep customers interested.

Hmm, doesn't look a long list, but some tasks, such as the accounts and the freezers are not small ones

Hope everyone is having a nice day, lovely and sunny here :)
  • Hello everyone!

Today will hopefully be a NSD (nothing planned but I'm new to this so might slip up...!)

Brought breakfast (toast) and lunch (leftover chilli and grapes) to work with me. Normally I'd buy something horrible from work (canteen is a stodge-fest and sandwiches from the shop are dryer than the Sahara!) but not today!

Tea is already worked out too - cod with homemade tomato sauce, brocolli and new potatoes.

Today is payday so have moved some money to savings accounts, paid off outstanding energy bill and updated standing orders for tomorrow's debt payments.

Will make sure to turn off unnecessary lights/plugs etc when I get home. (Had a horrible thought that I bet the bloomin' TV was left on standby last night!)

    Afternoon Comrades,
Well, I've just about surfaced from what has been a pretty extensive budgeting session this morning, so much of today's money saving efforts are to do with that. Still recovering from having to shell out for a new boiler last month. Also, no travel expenses today, as mr f, unusually, didn't get his claim done in time. That means we've paid for work petrol (£110) but won't get the money back until next month's salary. June is potentially expensive month as we are going to a Festival (tickets already paid for) & a camping trip, so I have been working out various different budget projections to make sure we don't overspend available funds. So, today:
*Reconciled May's budget. All bills went out correctly. We overspent grocery budget by about £70. Unusual these days, but we did have guests staying.
*Transferred £15 from grocery budget to savings (I used another £15 Sainsbury's giftcard from Toluna surveys).
*Paid 1 credit card in full. Will pay half the balance of the other one. It's a small balance & I will defo clear it next month, but with a busy month, keeping a buffer in our current account is more useful to me.
*Allocate funds for camping trip - campsite booked & we always take lots of food. Have top-sliced grocery budget by £50 & budgeted an additional £50 from account so we have £100 petty cash to use for fresh food, milk, etc, we need to buy while we're there, the occasional coffee & cake, etc. This will be much more controllable than dipping into our account constantly for bits & bobs, because that's how money can leak away from us (I think we all know that feeling!).
*Looked at Savings Piggies, & decided to pay Car, Presents & Household this month. Decided to pay Holidays & Leisure amounts straight to ourselves as in addition to our normal 'Personal Spends' money, this will make a more realistic budget for a month containing both a Festival & a holiday. Decided not to pay Clothes Pig at all. There is already £40 in there. We don't need any new clothes at the moment, & I have a Monsoon voucher from my birthday if I did fancy something.
*Read energy meters & uploaded readings onto website.
*Did laundry overnight on Economy 7 tariff. All line-drying.
*Divvied up mince to make quarter-pounders for tonight & mince or cottage pie tomorrow.
*Pick lettuces, herbs & radishes to go in a big salad to go with the burgers in (left-over!) buns.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Watered veggies. Had planned to plant more veggies outside this afternoon, but think cold night coming, so may hold off a couple of days longer.
    *Did a few surveys.
Think that's it, so time to get the kettle on & treat myself to a cafetiere. I don't know about 'O' & 'A', etc, I think my blood group is 'caffiene'.......
    Bye for now, Fellow Frugalistas,

    Afternoon all,
