Baileys babe - Thanks. Both Mr f & I have had some truly Spendy Decades. I can't believe how much money I used to waste. You will think I'm talking about a different person, but no....this was me. I never budgeted & always overspent my income. So, when my bank statement used to arrive in the post, I'd open it & try & get a quick glimpse of the balance, then I'd tell myself, "Oh, well that's not TOO bad, it could be worse & it's nearly payday" . Then I'd carefully fold it back into the envelope & put it in a drawer. Only, my statement date was mid-month, when some of my bills, including the mortgage, hadn't even gone out, so it was always way worse than I was kidding myself........as I trolled of to the city centre to spend more of the bank's money on clothes, craft stuff, music, films , lunch somewhere nice, & whatever else I fancied! Can you believe from my posts on here what a bad girl I was? Reformed character now though. I LOVE being debt-free & see budgeting very much as something which helps & facilitates, rather than something which prevents & curtails. It might mean a morning of serious numbers crunching, but for me, that's better than the alternative. I couldn't bear to slide back into all our silly over-spending.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0
