Pulsacoil Boiler Replacement

Hi All,
I am new to the forum so I apologise in advance if I am posting in the wrong place.
I live in St Georges Wharf, SW London, I have one of these awful PulsaCoil (all electric boilers). I have been told by our local electrician that it has a crack in the cylinder and can't be repaired, is this true or am I being taken advantage of?
If I do have to replace it, I have been looking around online and I have found that an alternative unit is a Telford Tristor, has anyone had one fitted and are they any good? I can't find any reviews!
I would appreciate any help anyone can give me, as I can't really afford to replace it.
Many thanks
James
