New Build House

My wife & I recently moved in to our first property together, it is a new build house and we moved in about 4 days ago.

The sales agent read the meter readings with us for gas and electric however was unable to complete the water meter readings as the meter has not been installed yet.

My question is how do you get billed whilst a meter is not present as if it is via standard charger we could end up paying more than we would have with a meter.

Anyone had any experience of this?

Just ring up the water co and request one to be fitted ASAP otherwise they'll charge you based on a guesstimated rateable value that they'll make up themselves.

Hopefully you've also registered with the gas/leccy companies and given them the readings yourself. Don't rely on someone else doing it for you. Also keep a note of the readings somewhere safe just in case of any problems in the future
