I just want a comfortable car

I want a used car that is quiet and smooth with an automatic gearbox that will last the life of the car (so presumably torque converter). Budget £12000. I do not want oversized wheels with low-profile tyres nor an automated manual gearbox.

Recommendations please.

    If I had £12k in your position i would be looking at;

    Jag XF
    BMW 5 series/7 series
    Audi A6/A8
    Mercedes e-Class

But if you dont want a "premium" brand
    Honda Accord
Skoda Octavia/Superb - and i only list these 3 as they are what will be my next car - with an auto gearbox! but most likely the superb over the octavia
  • Go for the Jag best car ive had to far and its like sitting on the sofa at home

I have no first hand experience but it is known that the Lexus IS250 and GS300 are comfortable cruisers.

Not really much to go off. Is it a family car? Small car? Diesel or Petrol? Any preference on premium brands or is that not an issue?

With only the above to go off...I'd suggest a Kia for the long warranty.

You nearly bought an IS250, didn't you test drive it or was it all a lie?

It was all a lie. All I've done is sat on the back seat of an IS250 auto for like 15 minute.

Dunno about DM, but I nearly did. If I'd not had to come back from London early then I'd have taken it out.

Bloody hell. That's the first believable thing you've said.

    Keep it up.

Some good choices there I would add in a VW Phaeton as well this looks like a comfy way to cover the miles

When the repair bill to fix an auto can be more than a cars worth its easy to choose one that will last the life of the car.

When the box breaks it costs so much to fix to technically thats the end of its life?

Find an auto that actually gets the auto box serviced, They have oil and filters than can be changed and they live a lot longer if they are changed.
