Housing Assoc, Right to By, Shared Ownership.??

Hi

I have lived in a Housing Association SO property since 1993.

I own 25percent and HO owns 75 percent.

I paid off mortgage on my 25 percent - I pay a rent of the other 75 percent every month.

I see in the news today that the governement is set to offer a new discount scheme to housing association tenants.

Will this apply to retrospectively ?

Also because I have had shared ownership for so long would I be eligible ? I believe the previous right to buy scheme was only for tenants from 97 onwards.

I looked at a number of articles but could not glean much info.

Thank you

I don't think the scheme is aimed at people who are in shared ownership schemes.., more for simple tenants. As the scheme has only been announced as yet.., its a bit early to be wondering what the details of the new scheme will be. You'll only get lots of meaningless speculation as no one knows the details.

    Hi

Okay - thank you for your reply.

I was hopeful it would apply to shared ownership as well.

    There is no scheme yet.

This is a policy proposal that is being included in a housing bill that will need to be made into a law (an Act) through parliament.
