right to buy housing association tenants

Hi All,
With the slim majority to the conservatives today, does anyone want to take a gander at the timeframe for allowing housing association tenants to buy their own home to come into fruition?
I know this is the sort of question like 'how long is a piece or string?' but just curious how, in reality complicated this change is - i.e. will it take months or years to sort out.
Cheers,

No one here can answer your question, even a Tory couldn't.
They've promised the sale of houses which don't belong to them, I imagine there will be some resistance.0 -

Cheers,
I am also very interested in this, one of the reasons I voted conservative0 -
Perhaps post this to the Debate House Prices & the Economy board.0

From what I heard, there was a strong kickback from the housing associations. They commented something to the effect of they would take legal action against the government if they tried it.0

That's great news :T0

You do realise that this has been a conservative manifesto pledge for about the last 20 years...0

Lets hope it never gets off the ground. The last thing we need is less available social housing. If you want to buy property, save up for a deposit and buy on the open market like everyone else has to.0

I just wonder if people realise that the cogs of westminister turn slowly. It's been 19 hours since the polls closed.
If this happens it wont be for quite some time0 -
Quite right FL
The RTB scheme should have been abolished years ago
It has always been totally unfair on all the decent hard working people who don't expect the tax payer to house them and who then end up making a massive profit when they sell.0 -

Are you saying that someone living in a HA property is not decent or hard working? I live in a HA property, work 50 hours a week, my partner works 3 jobs, I actually work harder than most people I know.... I just do not have rich family to borrow vast sums of money off towards a deposit on a mortgage0
