After spending £2500 in the first 3 months on the Amex Platinum card, does any further spending in that initial period count for cashback?
If not, I might as well use another card until I start the 4th month. It's a bit unclear in the Ts & Cs.

It counts, rate drops to the standard rate rather than the 5% bonus for the amount over the bonus limit.0

that's right, so assuming the rate is still better, or helping you build towards then next threshold, keep using it:)0

I got Amex Platinum about 5 months ago, not sure if it was a mistake but my 5% kept on going past the £2.5k limit and ended up earning almost £200 cashback before they stopped adding the extra on my online statement, around the end of month 2.
I certainly got the standard cashback even after the 5% ended though, and it all also countd towards the £10k+ reward bonus at the end of the year.0 -

Mine did exactly the same thing.0 -
Amex do sometimes seem to let an offer over-run in that way.
and also they can be persuaded to give you a cashback uplift for a period of time, too:D0 -
Thank you all very much for the replies!0

Further to the above questions, can people confirm roughly how long the application process took for their Amex Platinum, please? I buy my train season ticket in mid-September every year and would really like to make sure that happens during my "anniversary month", so want to time my application accordingly!
Also, the T&Cs suggest that cashback is awarded annually during the anniversary month - is that correct?0 -

Perhaps around 3 weeks max from application to holding the card physically. Will depend if you hold existing Amex cards or not (if you do this will speed things up) and if you get a straight online approval or a "we will be in touch" referral.
If you need the card by Sept then you should be applying mid/late August. Presumably the only risk is that if approved too quickly August becomes your anniversary month - would you be able to buy your renewal earlier than usual at the end of August but for the ticket to start in mid-Sept? If you apply too late in Aug then I would imagine going onto daily / weekly tickets waiting for the card to arrive initially will eat away at any cash back savings in Sept year 1.
Yes the cashback is paid annually as per the website - be aware that if you fail to keep to the T&Cs e.g make a late payment then all cashback is forfeited for the year.0 -
Took about 3 working days to get my cards, even my first ever card from them. But they where instant approvals apart from one if them which took a week for the card to arrive.
Depends on the applicant really. Good luck!0
