turmeric paste dosage for dogs

Anyone giving a turmeric paste to their dogs and can point me to how much should be given per 1kg of body mass of a dog pls?

Zara is still at Ewa's place and Ewa gives her dogs turmeric as a powder just with their food - I also bought her coconut oil to give them so she adds that to their food too.

but recently seen the FB group for turmeric just so busy on there that I can not make sense of millions of posts so thought someone here may kow - given as the "golden paste" how much to give to a dog?

Thanks a million

I fund this in "files" on the user group - it says to start from 1/4 of a tea spoon but does not say how much up to can one go per body weight of a dog
    GOLDEN PASTE

    * 150g of turmeric powder

    * 250ml of water, and a little more in reserve if needed

    * 1 ½ teaspoons of freshly ground black pepper

    * 70ml cold pressed olive or coconut oil.

Place the water and turmeric in a pan, stirring over a gentle heat until you
have a thick paste. This should take about 7-10 minutes but don’t panic if it
takes longer! If your paste goes a little to thick add some of the extra water.
Once you have got your paste take off the heat and add the pepper and oil, stir
well make sure it is all mixed together. Allow to cool then store in a
sterilised glass jar in the fridge. The paste should keep for up to 4 weeks.

This paste is for animals and humans, start off on about 1\4tsp and
gradually build up over a few weeks, until you see a difference in
yourself/animal. Feed morning and evening if possible. There isn’t a specific dosage
so what works for one may not work for the other.

Piperine, from fresh ground black pepper, will increase the absorbency of
other substances in your stomach- so if you are on regular medication, you may
experience a higher absorbency rate than intended for those drugs. Please
    consult your doctor or pharmacist.

It's as it says in the article really - there is no specific dose, just a point you see the benefits at.
One thing they do recommend is feeding the paste more than once a day to increase efficacy.
I feed my 26kg lurcher a generous heaped teaspoon every day and it seems to help him. I'd be quite happy to give him the same twice a day, but at the moment it's not practical.

I've started mine on it, Kiki for her recently diagnosed arthritis, and Casper just because he's starting to get on a bit at 8.5

I've made up frozen little balls of raw meat with the turmeric paste sandwiched inside. I gave one a day to introduce, they're now on two a day. Plan will be to see to give a third (so they'll get one in the morning, one when I get home from work, and one before bed) and see how we go on that dose, upping it if necessary.

It's seeming very simple for now. 5 mins to make a batch of paste, 5 mins to portion up the meat (I'm using a silicone cake pop tray to portion them out in) and then all it takes is a few seconds to grab one from the freezer and feed - both dogs happily eat as-is and no faffing around mixing it in with their food or anything.

My first experience with the GP
So I made it first time... Firstly, with the turmeric I have (Suma organic - Amazon), when i measured up 150mg of powder it came to the whole normal size mug. Water was supposed to be 250ml which again was almost full large mug. So straight away the proportions seemed wrong as combining the turmeric with water there was no way I could even move it with a spoon it was so thick and coarse. So I kept on adding water and ended up adding a total of 3 mugs of water to get to the consistency I wanted (photo of the pot showing the consistency attached to this post). So I will stick with the 1:3 ratio of turmeric : water . I guess different turmeric powders may work with different amounts of water but with mine this seemed to work. On to adding black, freshly ground pepper - I stuck to 1.5 tea spoon here. Then the coconut oil once the paste cooled down a bit. I used Biona Virgin Raw Coconut Oil (again Amazon) and added 7 flat table spoons , mixed into the paste and it become lovely shiny kind of consistency. Tried it like that - HATED the taste No way I could have it or even give it to my dog as that. Google my friend came up with Golden Milk so.. put 2 tea spoons of Manuka Honey , half a spoon of the Golden Paste, added milk - put in microwave for 20 sec, took out, mixed again to dissolve the honey, put back in microwave for 30 sec and wohoooooooooooooooooooooooo - absolutely love it this way.... fantastic..... NOW I can have it every day - had a whole mug and only remembered to take a photo when I nearly finished it

BUT - got to find a way to give the paste to Zara somehow now..... Hmmmmmm

Are you giving her any wet food at the moment? Mine don't mind it too much if I mix it with their meals, Kiki is a bit fussier so the little raw meat balls work better than risking her turning her nose up at a whole meal. I made a batch with tinned tuna mixed with an egg as well, she loves those ones plus oily fish is good for joints too - someone said it's better to give little and often so three little doses a day should help. I'm going to make the next batch with their raw fish mince though as tuna is a bit expensive to use daily!

I wet my pairs kibble and chuck some GP in it, Arran loves it but Ellie isn't so keen but she will eat it warm in the kibble. I take it as we'll and I just shove it in my gob with a drink and swallow it. I've got the capsule maker but I've still to buy the dried coconut oil which I'll eventually get round to buying.

Clever Dog asks for her GP pills.. :D

I freeze GP in blister packs recycled from pharmacy meds (washed out, obviously). Normal dose for CD is three a day, wrapped in a sliver of sliced ham. This equates to about 1.25 teaspoons, for a 20 kilo dog whose arthritis was not severe. After three months on GP Clever Dog doesn't need the vet's meds any more, although if we go for a particularly long walk or CD has been playing with other dogs, she will often ask for another dose of GP in the evening.

I should probably give it to her twice a day anyway, but usually don't have enough brain to remember (due to ME/CFS mind-fog).

No catpee smell here - but if it does happen, adding Ceylon cinnamon (not normal cinnamon, which can be toxic to dogs) helps apparently
