Tv Licence for a foreign satellite

Options
Hi everyone,
I have a question relating to TV licensing.
I have read a thread on this and I am a bit confused as to live-TV watching. We have a satellite in our houselhold. I never watch live-TV- i catch up on some stuff on i-player frequently but other than that I dont watch TV at all. My dad watches polish tv via satellite dish, as he doesnt speak much English, so none of the British programmes are ever watched in our house "live". I have always been paying the licence since moving here some decade ago but wonder now whether I actually should since we do not watch british telly at all.
Could anyone advise please?
Many thanks
A.

You need a licence to watch live TV-it's irrelevant if it's the BBC, ITV, another UK channel, or Polish TV.
You do not need a licence to watch catch-up TV only, as it's not live.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
