I have sold something recently on ebay. Its a large item and I have stipulated Paypal only in the description and to be paid before collection.
The buyer is now asking for my address but has not paid.
I dont want to be awkward but I am uncomfortable giving address before payment.
Am I within my rights to stop proceeding with the sale unless they pay first?

PayPal + collection ???
Not a good idea - give your address and insist on cash.0 -
If it's collection only then asking for paypal is risky - cash on collection is much better.
EDIT - Tommy beat me to it.
See this thread about the papypal collection scam

You are running a huge risk here-why on earth are you insisting on paypal, you are just begging to be scammed.

I find it very odd as well that you sell a collection only item and are nervous about giving out your address- I fear you may well not have thought this through unless I am missing something.
Contact buyer now, give them your address and try and persuade them to pay by cash.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. So you are prepared to lose the lot rather than have the haggle?
If they haggle just tell them to walk awayI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ok,
I didnt know about the scams, but it is a bit annoying I specified pay first and they have ignored that and assumed cash is fine. We had emails back and forth during the auction and they never had the courtesy to ask if cash was ok.0 -

I suspect buyer realises you are a newbie and is trying to do you a favour, for a start you save on the fees.
I really would read the beginnings of the two threads I posted above- I get nervous when newbie sellers don't understand how paypal protection works.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have been a member 9 years and have 500+ 100% feed back.
I am not a newbie, but have never sold or purchased via collection.0 -

At the very least educate yourself about seller protection on ebay , the best way for us all to stay safe is to be aware of how to protect ourselves and set our own comfort zones about the acceptable risks we are prepared to take.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They aren't going to come "all the way" to your house and haggle - they have already done the haggling via the auction.
You should be biting their hands off to get cash rather than paypal.
I didn't see any question regarding parking either.0
