Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Hannah - I love The Mins & Mins game. It has really changed my life & the way I think about clutter generally. The two men that founded the movement Ryan Nichodemus & Joshua Fields Milburn were both of the big salary big debt situation. And after having 'Lightbulb' moments of their own kind gave it all up to pursue a simpler life. En route they created mins game & it went global. They have done talks in most major cities of the world & written a book 'Everything that remains'
The challenge is mainly a twitter thing but no reason you can't do it just on your own at home like Foxgloves did. The idea is on day 1 of the month you give away 1 item and tweet a picture of it using the #minsgame then day 2 you give away 2 things, day 3 3 things, rising to 31 things on day 31. If you do it religiously you can get rid of around 400 items per month. I played for 2 months solid and dip in and out still. I made some great virtual friends mainly in America but several around Europe. I love it. And on that note do play!

Hello everyone, hope youre all having a good bank holiday:hello:

I had a rough night again so hadnt expected to really do very much, but I was woken up by the football team and their victory parade (not often Southend United has much to celebrate:p)going past so I decided I might as well get up!

Due to said bad night I had done a few bits of washing and hung them out at about 5am, so they were dry by the time I got up properly:rotfl:

    Checked bank accounts

Looked to see if any surveys available - got 25% of the way through one before it rejected me, that really annoys me!!!

Paid gas bill, £8 this month, not my cheapest but somehow I had put the wrong figure when I gave a meter reading so next month is likely to be standing charge only :D

Decided to go into town, went on mobility scooter as chest not good enough to attempt the walk, also meant no chance of getting there and not able to walk back and therfore needing to pay for a taxi:T

Scooter also seems to act as a chugger avoidance device:rotfl:

Brunch in Starbucks, got filter rather than latte as its cheaper, faster and free refills. Paid using the app which I top up via TCB and get 5% back - nice coffee is my guilty pleasure, spend a disproportionate amount of my income on it, so that 5% makes me feel better:p

Quick look in a couple of clothes shops, would like a couple of nice summer tops *but* I'm currently losing weight so not sure what size I will be in another month or 2, also my picc line is hopefully being swapped for a portacath soon which means I could wear sleeveless tops (my preference) more easily than I can at present, so didn't actually buy anything today:T

Bought some fruit from the fruit stall in town, lots for the money and helpful stall holder meant I didnt have to get off scooter etc:)

Popped into Sainsburys, no real bargains today but got a few bits and my flowers - I try to always have fresh flowers in the flat, as I am often unable to get out more than once a week or so they really cheer me up. Todays are yellow tulips, still in bud so will last a good while and only £2.50 anyway, plus tulips are one of my favourite flowers :D

Don't think I will need to spend anything tomorrow as am going round to friends for lunch and the afternoon. My ESA goes in on Wednesday. Before it last went in I had about £20 in my account, this time I have £150:j We all know benefits are not a fortune so Im really chuffed with myself!

    Enjoy your evening everyone:beer:

Thanks Foxgloves for your PM & Bob for the info & Ally of the link :)
I may give it a go in June (although I don't seem to be finding much to go in the cs bag at the minute but this may refocus me :) )

Ally, sounds like you've achieved lots today :)

After all today's baking, I am def going to miss the gym this week (can't get there as kids on hols) but I've just rung my parents and invited ourselves over for lunch tomorrow, they live by the beach so I can sneak out for 1/2hr run whilst lunch is getting ready :)
Hope you are all having a nice day. We have got a film on with the kids now (at least its stopped them bickering!)

Ok next question for you lovely lot, I've heard "stardrops" mentioned for several times for cleaning on this thread, can anyone tell me where to get it from please & what its good for please? I'm trying to reduce the number of products we use around the house.

    TIA

Hmm, regretting my frugal shopping trip and having a minor flap attack over what I should wear tomorrow! The friends I am meeting could make a bin bag look like Gucci, I on the other hand could make Gucci look like a bin bag! Tried on a few of my 'better' clothes, and the nice Per Una trousers I picked up in a charity shop and hoped I would slim into now fit perfectly - woo hoo! The nice Gap top (another cs bargain) that was too small last year is now too big and I am frantically trying to work out the best (and fastest) way to alter it by hand as my mother currently has my sewing machine. Daft thing is, said friends really won't mind in the least what I wear, theyd be more than happy for me to turn up in my pjs if I want to, its *me* who is worried.

This is Stardrops (Link). It is good for cleaning 3/4 of your house! And costs about £1.50 a bottle which might last a whole year! It's just a concentrated cleaning fluid. You can get a bucket of water and put a few drops in and use it for cleaning floors or get an empty spray bottle, fill it with water and add a few drops and that'll clean your surfaces for a month. Usually when you buy cleaning products they're 90% water, you're paying for that water; this is just the cleaning agent and you add all your own water which is why it lasts so long.

The Original All Round Cleaner is the one I use, it doesn't smell bleachy but there is a bleachy variant you can buy if you like that sort of thing.

I don't use it to clean 'real' wooden furniture but I use it for all the hard surfaces at home including all the bathroom, all the kitchen surfaces, the sink, the fridge, windows and the cooker. I've never tried it on laundry, cookware or the car paintwork. I wear rubber gloves when using it. I have used it on floors but OH prefers the smell of 'blue' Flash for floors so we use that instead.

I buy it from B&M or the local hardware store but I think some supermarkets sell it or there's a list of stockists here (Link). You can get it on Amazon too if you can't source it elsewhere.

You can find out more on this MSE Forum (Link).
