O/S Daily thread Monday 25th

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Sunny here today, I wonder if it will stay that way.
Fish fed, hubby & I have a cuppa, I'll do breakfast after he's watered the garden.
I had a lovely time with my DD's yesterday, we went for Sunday lunch at the Pot Kiln & it was delicious. I drove so both my daughters could have a drink. We stopped at DD1's afterwards & spent some time with the twins, the little girl is so close to walking & very vocal, the little boy is much quieter & very smiley.
Dinner today will be freezer roulette I have no idea what I have in there, but I'll find something I'm sure.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning one and all. Thick cloud for us this morning and forecast to cover us all day.
We got over to the caravan yesterday to sort DD out AGAIN! It was a gorgeous sunny day so we stayed there all afternoon in the end. We left her with everything working and told her we didn't want to know if something else packed in!! My DD and caravan workings are not a good combination!! We finally got to eat the sc chicken and accompanying veg about 7.30! Rather later than planned!
Today we are going to call up at DS's with his birthday card and money for his 40th tomorrow - and it only seems like yesterday when he was born. How the years fly by. GF wanted him to have a party but that's not his style - he wanted a meal with just me and Mr TA and DD and BF. So a lovely Italian restaurant in town booked for the 6 of us for Saturday night.
Also want to call at a garden centre afterwards for some bedding plants for the front garden as it's looking very colourless at the moment.
Lunch will be leftover chicken, with salad and fried up new potatoes. Dinner yet to be decided, though I have some mince defrosting to make Bolognese later. I like to freeze it in portions for a quick topper for pasta. So could keep back a bit of that and maybe have Spag Bol tonight.
Have a good day all (((((((((HUGS)))))))) if you need one and take care whatever you are doing xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning all,
Thank you Hester for starting us off today.
Well it is overcast here and I was hoping we would see a little bit of sun.
We have just had a cooked breakfast which was a very nice change from cornflakes and toast.
Himself worked really hard in the garden on Saturday, so if he wants a rest today that is fine by me. Housework is up to date and not enough washing to put the machine on.
Have a good day whatever you decide to do. Hugs to anyone who needs or would like one

Morning chums, suns up and shining already:) I am off out with Dd and son-in-law to buy two birthday presents for two of my DGS.Their birthdays are 1st and 3rd June and as I may be still in hospital then I want to make dure they are bought wrapped and ready for them.
I am also trying to use up as much of the fresh food in the fridge as possible so nothing is wasted while I am in having my op. so far I am doing quite well and I am now down to a small box of cherry tomatos a cucumber and a box of plums. Cheese, eggs etc I can give to Dd to use up.I'm not too sure how long I'll be in for (hopefully only a few days) then I will probably stay at DDs for a day or so when I come out. (I'd rather be at home but I know she will stress a bit)
Roll on Friday I'll be pleased to get everything done and dusted:):)
Hope you all have a great day today whatever you are doing,DD is coming to take some of my geraniums for her garden this afternoon as I have so many and she could do with a bit of colour in her front garden. She bought some solar lights in Asdas on Saturday and I must admit they are looking good They were really cheap as well:)^ for a quid a bargain I thought.
Right off to have some breakfast

Morning :hello:
donny-gal Thank you x I'll definitely use the lead in the way you suggested, I've not heard of that. I've seen it but didn't realise there was a specific reason, I just thought that's how some people like to walk their dogsHe's very good when I put the harness and lead on, he does exactly as he's told. He waits while I go through the door first, then I let him get on with sniffing and searching about for a while (only fair, it's his job as a terrier
) before I tell him he has to go where I say. I do need him to stay right with me along our road, it's very busy with pedestrians and traffic and both make him edgy and barky if I don't get him to concentrate on doing some sort of 'work'.
There's one particular cat that he hates, if he sees it he's wound up for the rest of the day. I've been trying and trying to keep him away from the window (he has a perfect view of it from there) but it's impossible. So I'm afraid I'm taking the lazy way out – which I didn't want to do – and covering it. I've just measured the window, I have some white material so I'm going to cut it to size and tape it to the frame when I've posted this. That'll do for now, I'll go shopping for a blind when everyone is out of my hair
A cat-frenzied dog resulted in him wrapped around my leg – why can't he at least choose my good leg? lol – so I'm limping about again. Ggrrrrr. It's worse this time so I'm going to use a heat pad on it today, along with brufen gel. And maybe brufen tablets tooMr tru wants to go out, just a trip to The Range, but I think he'll be going on his own, I don't think I can get in and out of the car. I'm hoping for a peaceful day, with no cats in sight, so I can start a job and actually get it finished without interruption
There's some washing to go on, hoovering to do and the garden needs sweeping. This afternoon I'll be making flowers and watching a film.

Morning All
Hopefully the weather will cheer up as I have washing to go out. DD has taken the car to work as bank holiday trains are a bit hit and miss and she has a cold. Gers, how's yours?
More wallpaper stripping for me today, it is coming off fairly easily and the plaster is staying put mostly so all good!
Hope everyone is ok and the men in your lives behave themselves!
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a bit grey here this morning but I think it will brighten up later. Hubby is home today and the girls are asleep. DD12 has gone off to Butlins with her godmum so I really hope she has a great time.
I've made bacon and scrambled egg pittas for breakfast and they were very nommy. I probably won't have any lunch now and I'm making a quorn bolognese for tea. It's a bit of an experiment as I'm not telling anyone it has quorn in it rather than meat. I will add lots of chunky veg to it so there will some texture to it, oh well, we shall see.
Washing is on, the hoover has been put round so I am going to head off for a shower and then sort out the airing cupboard.
Max has been brilliant these last couple of days and he is very nearly house trained already. He has lots of cuddles in the evening after a day of playing but he passes the most awful wind, we have to keep a scented candle burning. At the moment we are feeding him on Iams puppy food but I may change it to something less rich.
Well that's all for now, hope you all enjoy your Bank Holiday, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone.
I had a really bad night, coughing for most of it and dozing off inbetween. At least the sun is out and it should be a good day.
Plans for today are fluid. I want to get a couple of grow/bags when OH is here, in can't lift them all now. So we'll probably head out do do that and then have lunch out somewhere.
Tomorrow I've going on a trip to tour the Glensanda super quarry, got to be at the marine depot for 9.30am so an early start. Hopefully will get a full nights' sleep tonight.
Hope everyone has a good Monday.0 -
Morning all,
Nice bright day here got a load of towels on the line which should dry well today, we have just filled the bird table with seeds nuts and worms, we have a robins nest in the old shed they are getting in and out through a window which has no glass, there are two males and a female feeding the babies, its so nice to see.
DD has a migraine and is asleep in bed, she needs total darkness and just needs to sleep it off, she is working 5 days a week at placement one day a week at work and trying to do all her assignments and uni work, I think its too much for her and maybe she needs to cut down to every other weekend at work, stress always brings a migraine on with her.
OH and I are off to a junk fair today (assuming DD is ok). We got mum mostly moved in yesterday just the bed still to come over today, so hopefully she will be in there from tonight.
Got to do the shopping online later, actually not sure we need a lot so will check stocks first.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all, load of washing done and out drying this morning, and am sitting with a cup of tea fuming silently. We have a handy man supposed to be coming at 8.30am to replace the kitchen sink (not very old-style to get someone in but I am totally incompetent at DIY!) and he has not yet turned up.
I've left a message for him, bur I'm wondering if he forgot it was a bank holiday when booking it in, but a phone call to say that would be nice so I didn't have to get up (I am not a morning person).
Right, rant over. If it stays nice I might go and paint the garden fence.0
