How do you BT out of ICICI Credit Card?

Hello. I'm totally totally at my wits end with this stupid company. Having taken 5 months to actually do my BT for 3 months at 0%, I now want to BT out and the UK banking system doesn't accept their card. Apparently its ok if its a Visa transaction - ie, you are buying something with it, but if its a BT, then the UK banking system won't accopt it.
I have posted already today on a different post my many frustrations with this company, but now I appeal for help, as it would appear I am trapped with them.
Please help.
And I'd strongly advise you, if you're thinking of taking out their credit card for the purpose of the BT facility, then don't bother as its too stressful for words.
Thanks
Sarah

I've had this problem with other 'new cards' - not ICICI though.
All it normally means is that the credit card number is valid but that the number range used is new and that the institutions you want to BT to/from (tesco?) haven't updated their own systems to recognise it as valid yet..

Hiya
I've never encountered this before at all in 9 years of balance transfers!!
Also, the ICICI card isn't that new...
However, that doesn't help me to get the money out of ICICI!
Any one got any suggestions?
Thanks

I see you've sorted the problem now and as I suspected it was an issue with Tesco's computer systems not having been updated to recognise the ICICI number range..

Hi Sunil
You are mistaken in your belief that the problem is so simple...
I am extremely experienced in BT's and Credit Cards and have never had this problem before.
ICICI are the WORST bank I have ever dealt with, their staff do not understand basic English, their customer service is non existent, they are not recognised by or regulated by the UK Financial people, it took them 5 MONTHS to do a BT in the first place and, I have had to transfer this balance to 3 other card issurers, none of whom have been able to do it under the normal channels.
The problem, my friend, is not with Tesco, who are part of RBS, the problem is with ICICI.
I only post on message boards these days when I really really need help as I so often find people post extremely unhelpful comments such as yours, and they fail to undertsand the root and the entirety of the problem.
It would be more useful if people like you, who have nothing useful to say, didn't post at all.
It isn't so simple as you indicate and the BT transaction has to go to the Bank of England to authorise and it could take up to 6 weeks to get the money BT'd from ICICI to Tesco (RBS).
All of this is extrememly stressful and time consuming and I feel that the stress and time taken isn't worth dealing with ICICI.
The person, BTW, who I was dealing with initially at Tesco Personal Finance and who phoned ICICI on my behalf 3 times, was Indian herself, and came back to laughing and said she thought they were dreadful as each of the 3 operators she had spoken to at ICICI had told her different things, and had failed to understand what she was asking.
I think that says it all really with regard to this awful ICICI bank.
Yours, going to have a nice cup of tea and some food!0 -

While you may not have experienced this issue before its very common when financial institutions start issuing credit cards in a country they have previously not.
I've even had the problem in stores as well, not just with BT's. For instance a UK supermarket credit card would work on the tills but not that supermarkets own petrol stations as they had not updated that software to recognise the card number range as valid..
I can't comment on your experiences of ICICI but the problem is with the other 3 issuers having not yet updated their automated systems to recognise the new number range being used.ICICI are the WORST bank I have ever dealt with, their staff do not understand basic English, their customer service is non existent, they are not recognised by or regulated by the UK Financial people, it took them 5 MONTHS to do a BT in the first place and, I have had to transfer this balance to 3 other card issurers, none of whom have been able to do it under the normal channels.
The problem, my friend, is not with Tesco, who are part of RBS, the problem is with ICICI.
Also, ICICI is regulated by the Financial Services Authority - and has been from day 1 - otherwise it would not be allowed to trade here..
Sorry you seem so upset but perhaps you should stop posting such rubbish.. my posts were helpful and to the point..I only post on message boards these days when I really really need help as I so often find people post extremely unhelpful comments such as yours, and they fail to undertsand the root and the entirety of the problem.

It has nothing to do with the Bank of England either... they don't authorise BT's!It isn't so simple as you indicate and the BT transaction has to go to the Bank of England to authorise and it could take up to 6 weeks to get the money BT'd from ICICI to Tesco (RBS).
It sounds as if RBS are making excuses for their possible inefficiency..

I have the same problem with ICICI. It took a long time and lots of phone calls to make the BT in the first place, and now I cannot transfer that balance to another credit card!! I have tried RBS and Natwest. But I also have the same problem with a Nectar Amex card, no other credit card issuer seems to be able to transfer that balance...0

When did I start this post... oh 10th August. Now are on the 31st October and I still cannot BT the money out of ICICI. Tesco/RBS took 8 weeks to get back to me and they DID take it to the Bank of England, whatever other people might think, and it has been rejected. So ICICI Bank are now making money out of me in interest payments as it would appear to be impossible to get money from them. USELESS. DO NOT TOUCH ICICI Bank CREDIT CARD WITH A BARGE POLE unless you can either pay it off in the 3 months interest free or you want a lot of hassle and want to soend hours on the phone and want to pay lots of money in interest. I do not believe they should be trading in this country if they make it so difficult for people to get money out of their accounts. They have no incentive to make it easier for us as they are making profit from our interest payments, so the harder it is and the longer it takes, the more money they make.
If anyone one knows which organisations will make a BT out of ICICI Bank Credit Card then please let me know.0 -
Oh and Sunil - you still haven't made any helpful suggestions to my specific question and I don't think you understand the problem.0

Back on 11th August, some 11 weeks ago, you said "I have had to transfer this balance to 3 other card issurers, none of whom have been able to do it under the normal channels."...the inference being they did it some other way.
Anyway, assuming the above was a typo (in your obvious anger), is there any reason why you simply haven't given up on it and taken the 'super balance transfer' option suggested in the reply to your first post on your other thread back in August?0 -
Hi Yorkshire Boy
This is what I meant: I have applied for 3 other credit cards with 0% balance transfer. They have all said they can't do it. They have either refused to do it manually and told me (even when I've gone through to Team Leaders and Call Centre Managers) they have no manual balance transfer facility or have been unable to do it manually. The money is stuck in ICICI Bank. In fact, Tesco/RBS have even given me compensation for promising me they could do it and not being able to!
I can't find that thread now, but I remember there was a reason. If you can find the thread, perhaps you can remind me of the Super Balance Transfer? I'm sure it was something to do with my situation that I couldn't do it. You've got me thinking now. Please can you aid my frustrated brain??
Thanks
