Is it worth fighting Parking Eye?

I got a ticket for parking for three hours in the local supermarket car park - I wasn't shopping, I was going to the local election hustings. There's signage, saying two hours only, there's no option to pay for longer, it was evening and the car park was pretty empty.
I've ignored tickets before and it's been okay but this is Parking Eye, and I've read that they've upped their game since 2012 and ARE taking people to court. There's a lot of information which I've tried to absorb, but if I don't actually have a receipt for any shopping and I did stay an hour over the allotted time, is it still worth fighting? I'd love to on principle but I don't want to flog a dead horse.
Any advice gratefully received, thanks in advance!

Of course, it's always worth fighting scamming scumbags!0

its not worth fighting PE (leave that to Barry Beavis), but it is worth going down the appeal route and letting popla decide0

It is always worth fighting them, their contract may not be right, their signs too high, too small, they may not have planning permission, commercial viability may not apply, and it costs them money. fYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

A lot depends on how much your time is worth and how much stress you wish to absorb.
It is possible to win, but it takes time and effort, study, letter writing and possibly contest your argument in court.
Although people do say fight them and make them pay, there is a cost to the motorist in time and stress. They won't give up easily and by what you are saying, some of your defence has gone as you were the person that the supermarket is trying to protect against. (parking and not shopping).
I agree that PE and all other such parking companies should be prevented from this type of punitive action, but having fought them and others 4 times (mostly on behalf of my kids), I can say it is not without some effort and stress. I am 3-1 in my favour though. The loss was because my daughter did not want to to go to court for her case, but we did mediate an agreement less than the 'charge'.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
I think the Popla website is pretty bewildering, but I'll take another look. I can't bear these companies either, and ChallengeTheFine.com seems to have gone quiet. But yes, time and stress, it's not fun and of course, that's what they're banking on.
Thanks again.0 -
please read the newbies thread - expect to lose at the first post ( with parking eye ) then win at popla. From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
Yes. Using the appeal (POPLA) route. Pepipoo reports a recent win over PE at POPLA specifically on the basis that they - as ever - failed to provide evidence that they had authority to operate on the land in question.
Make sure you read through the Newbie thread, make your first appeal and armed with your POPLA code go for it.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -

Yes, it looks like a lot of work. But I'll read the Newbies thread thoroughly. Thanks.0
