Our Dining room has four light fittings in the ceiling for halogen lamps. When they are switched on there is a humming noise. We removed/replaced each light but same issue. When we removed all the halogen lamps and switched on again the sound is still there.
Whats causing that?

Perhaps the fitting incorporates a transformer. Transformers will often hum.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0

Where would the transformer be located?0
-
If they are extra low voltage lamps ie 12v the transformer(s) will usually be in the ceiling or the fitting itself. Possibly 1 for several fittings or 1 each. Do you have a dimmer switch as they often humm0

No dimmer switch0

Are they down lights recessed in ceiling, do lamps just push in or twist?0
-
They are recessed in the ceiling x4 and the lamps push in0

The fittings should pull out of the ceiling with a bit of care, the chances are each fitting will have a transformer close to it which will pull out on the cable.0

So is it a case of replacing transformers?0

http://perthsparky.com.au/led-lighting/ this has a pic which may show set up better0

Possibly just moving to stop vibration, replacement transformers only cheap. Less than a tenner0
