Santander Debit Card Upgrade

Hi
Went to pay a cheque in to the local branch yesterday. While I was there I asked about the possibility of upgrading my debit card to a contactless one(Been with them since last october) No problems on the account and no overdraft.
The assistance tried to order one but the system would not allow it she said she would send an appeal to head office to see if they would authorise it.
Just wondering if anyone had any experience of this previously
Many thanks

i had an account 2 months ago was same as you. they said its now linked to overdraft rating. i said ok bye then and left lol. contactless should be standard now and i they dont want me i dont want them lol0

ok thanks, not really tried for an overdraft as dont need one0
-
i didnt either its said how they link your accounts0

What would they issue you if you 'lost' your card?0

Sounds like its a credit scoring\risk issue, as the none contåctless card will be online, the contactless on offline (the retailer doesn't have to check each transaction with bank, needed for contactless to be quick)0

I will wait and see. Should have a new card within 7 days if they allow the upgrade. Not too worried but would like to get have the option of contactless payment as I had with Natwest
I assume they would still send out a online card if I reported it lost as I don't think they have yet standardised on contactless.0 -
Not necessarily, especially if this article in the Telegraph is accurate:I assume they would still send out a online card if I reported it lost as I don't think they have yet standardised on contactless.
AFAIK (and IME), they are currently upgrading their debit & credit cards upon renewal/replacement. :beer:Santander said that all of its customers were "automatically entitled to a contactless card."

I dare say not 100% accurate as santander basic bank accounts don't even come with debit card as standardNot necessarily, especially if this article in the Telegraph is accurate:

edit - quote missing, but point was not all of santanders customers, only those who currently have a debit/credit card0 -
If your card starts 4757 you will not be getting contactless, not even if you have it replaced.
Only the card with silver numbering comes with contactless.0
