Letters Previous Tenant Debts

Thank you so much Annie!
Enough work to do cleaning house without the 60 letters in 1 month, Virgin being the worst.
All the other Companies thanked me for ringing.0 -
I have been in the same position as you. I also opened the letters and contacted the debt collection agencies and gave them all the info I had about the tenant and the letters did stop coming.
How odd that virgin are chasing directly, mostly these things get passed to debt collection agencies pretty quickly. These make more effort to contact people in terms of finding them than the companies themselves I think.0 -
Pass on the forwarding address the tenant left.....
Of course he doesn't want to be traced! Why?
He clearly doesn't want to be traced why help the debt collector scum?
If a tenant of mine disappeared owing me a load of rent, I would be grateful to the person who let me know where he'd gone so that I could at least attempt to get my rent back.
Using emotive terms like "debt collector scum" is unhelpful. This tenant has
* left owing rent
* caused damage to the property
* left the property full of 'household rubbish and rats'
* left a trail of debts to 10 companies (Virgin etc)
'Scum'? Hmmmmm...... :eek:0 -
If any tenant I had left owing rent & also had debts,.... I would pursue him myself for his debt to me: When that was sorted I'd think about letting other creditors know where he now was..
More creditors chasing him mean you will likely get less/month!0 -
Do you use Twitter? If so, go onto the Virgin twitter site and make a complaint. Keep complaining every day until they stop harassing you.
I recently had a problem with Virgin, and the only way I could get them to engage with me was to complain on Twitter. They will try and get you to stop by asking you to fill in a form which goes to their complaints team. Fill in the form, but keep complaining every day until they sort it out.
This method worked for me, having spent many hours over a few weeks trying to get them to sort it out on the phone.0 -

Having found out on Google that the Tenant had been involved with a gang using knives we did not dare go to the house until we were sure he had left. We relied on the Agent to check him and we were told a Credit Check had been done. We have found he has an ASBO andCCJs…0 -
I had a guy who did a runner owing me rent and with several creditors chasing him. Virgin was one of them - the ironic thing was that the guy worked for Virgin and had got the broadband/TV/phone package at employee rates. I pointed this out to the debt collection agency who took over from Virgin chasing him directly .... I said if his employer didn't know where he was, what chance did I have of knowing his whereabouts?!
I think the agency went back to Virgin to ask them the same question!0 -

So how did he pass the credit check with CCJs?0 -
Agent gave us a copy of Credit check saying,CCJs NO!
Queried this with Agent but he has not got back to us.
We have decided to sell house with a different Agent.
Spoke to Virgin Head Office and letters have stopped.0 -

Quite right - debt collectors perform a legitimate role tracking down and collecting money from people who have decided that they won't pay what is due for the products/services that they have received so have done a runner to try and avoid those debts.
The original post by Bart1 would be far more appropriate as "The scum clearly doesn't want to be traced...."0
