Phones4U Insurance

Hi,

I recently took out a contract with Phones4u on Orange - Nokia N95, 300 Minutes, 400 texts, and 2 months free insurance with Premier Plan Plus.
I've only had the phone 5 days and yesterday i had the phone on the garden table and my dog jumped up in excitement and knocked the phone onto the concrete patio. There's a big crack on the front of the fascia, and the screen isn't working. The phone switches on and makes all the noises and the keyboard light comes on etc, but no screen.

I'm covered with the insurance for accidental damage, but they want me to pay a £50 excess when making a claim to get the phone repaired/replaced - is it worth paying, or would it be cheaper to get it repaired myself without claiming on the insurance?

This is my first contract; i'm only 18, and i don't really understand why i need to pay an excess,i'm not really clued up on insurance! If anyone would be able to explain this, i would be grateful.

Thankyou in advance!

most insurance has an 'excess' to discourage people from claiming unnecessarily. I would say the £50 excess is well worth the cost for an insurance repair on a high spec phone like this.

  • Ahh, i see.
I think i'll send the phone off to the insurers this afternoon then. Hopefully it can be repaired.
    Thanks for explaining!
