The reason for I/S s still unclear to me. A part time student would be on JSA. A full time student or someone in non-advanced education would only be on I/S as a lone parent, estranged from parents or anyone acting as a parent but the OP seems very much a parent.i think that is the issue... he isn't entitled to income support.
i read it as him being a young person, estranged from parents ( references hb and cts), but he only stayed at college a month but kept claiming income support.
Maybe disabled (or would that be ESA now anyway?) in which case whatever medical evidence had been supplied might still be current.
Is it possible he is actually on ESA and is thinking of it as I/S. That wouldn't be so unusual and if that's the case he's already accepted as "sick" in which case actual attendance at college might not matter.0
