Only if they drove to the takeaway and delivered on foot/provided van.

There's no way you can spin delivering pizzas for £1 a time to not require "Hire and Reward". Which is expensive. Which is why almost no takeaway driver has it. Which is illegal.

The problem for the original insurer of the vehicle is as far as the Road Traffic Act is concerned is that they're the insurer of the vehicle.

Well that clears that one up. Do dominos not have lawyers paid to sort this kinda thing out? They can't have thought it through very well...

I don't use insuranc ebrokers as I use cashback sites. After all, why should I help a broker get a handout when I can get one myself.

As for what the insurance covers, it just says 'the business of the policy holder'. Had a van insured with D/L and the business use had no exclusions as to what business the policy holder was undertaking.

The RTA does exempt the original Insurer of the car from liability under the RTA if the car is being used for a class of use not covered by the policy eg delivering pizza's when on SD&P use.

However as most takeaway drivers don't declare their occupations to their own insurers and own damage is not normally covered by the takeaway blanket policy, If they have an accident there's a good chance they'll claim through their own Insurers anyway.

So you could say that the Dominoes lawyers have thought it out very well
