How will the economy be affected by SNP MPs; will it be for richer or for poorer and

A progressive social democracy costs you know!
You guys are different up there you keep on telling us, show the rest of the UK that investment in your economy rather than austerity can work!
The 50% top rate of tax was in the latest SNP election manifesto, let's see them put it in the Holyrood one next year.
It's almost as if the SNP like spending other people's money but not money generated in Scotland! 😀
They like talking the talk, making gushing comparisons with the Nordic society model.
Well, let's see them address Scottish health issues by taxing drink more. Let's see them taxing the individual more to spend on better state facilities.
Be bold. Create an alternate societal model to the rest of the UK.
(...or carry on moaning and blaming all their ills on a commission here ; an austerity policy there .... whinge, whinge)0 -
Yes Shakey I was listening so I also heard, before Robertson's remarks, that the Smith Bill had many changes.
But I agree on one thing, it will soon be take it or leave it time. At a certain time (close I think, enough will be enough).
I liked the Phrase "Desperate for disappointment" by Murray, applied to the SNP approach.
It's those that voted SNP for meaningful further powers that will be very disappointed. And quite a lot of us did up here. You keep forgetting that. Behind SNP MP's stand 50% of the Scottish electorate in 56 constituencies out of 59, all hoping to be given what they mandated the SNP to do for them in Westminster. FFA or at the very least, much further in the way of meaningful powers for the Scottish Government.
The 'taking or leaving it' will be decided by Scots voters thank you very much. Don't keep on forgetting that will you ? You talk about the SNP as if they got voted in on the back of a few 'cybernat's' twitter warblings..It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

So the SNP fudge on FFA/FFR has probably disappointed you?“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Income tax and only income tax is a poisoned chalice. As well Osborne knows. Raising it, will ensure business, revenues and jobs flee south. Keeping it as is, risks posts and commentary like yours.
The SNP garnered support at the last election on the basis of a let's say "socialist manifesto". So why not raise the highest income tax rate to 50% ? After all the anti austerity pledges have to be funded. There's less that 20,000 people that would be effected I believe anyway. So more spin than substance.0 -
Crocodile tears, Shakey, Crocodile tears. You guys are so busy plotting you've lost it.
But I expect the SNP to continue with their self parody.Union, not Disunion

That's 56 out of 650 MPs. Scotland is meaningless as an entity when talking about UK elections. There is no good reason Scotland should be singled out for special treatment whether good or bad.0 -
Agree with generali, Scotland is an arbitrary construct, a large but sparsely populated region of the UK that was an independent country at some many 100's (1000's ?) Of years ago (as was Wessex once) the mere idea that a proportion (was it even as much as half) of the people that live there voted for a minority party just months after rejecting an indepence referendum somehow entitles this region to special treatment is bizarre.Left is never right but I always am.0

Last week SNP MPs were being nicknamed The Borg after some of them posted near identical tweets all condemning Labour. With some key repetitive words used ie Labour, Shame. Etc.
John Swinney is a perfect example of someone who has been absorbed into only being capable of repeating carefully rehearsed party rhetoric. As his non commitment to commit the SNP into not committing to commit to raise taxes interview with Gordon Brewer on Sunday politics the other week illustrated.
Hopefully the new MP members won't share the same fate. Early days and all that , but it's not looking promising.0 -

Weren't they told they'd be kicked out of the party if they deviated from the party line?

The New Politics in Scotland seems to consist of slavishly agreeing to everything the leadership say.0 -
The SNP concept of "agree" is odd ; the day after they agreed (signed up) to the Smith Commission proposals, they disavowed it.
Anyway, it is up to the other MPs to save the Scots from the SNP subjecting Scotland to the financial disaster called FFA, the policy they promised in their manifesto.Union, not Disunion
