When i was a Rep for Everest and gave people a price for relacement windows, i remember a couple of people who had lived in their house a long time turning around to me and saying ........ That's more than we paid for the house.

Funnily enough the one who quoted me used to work for them. His boss weren't impressed with the dodgy tactics he'd learnt there.

plaster over artex ceilings, replace coving in 4 rooms, paint walls and pain skirting+ door frames.

Polish builder who does quite a lot in the area quotes 23k.

Got artex done for 1.8k and painting for about 2.5k. Kept the original coving but even that would have added 1-2k tops

    Its a jungle out there

Strange as generally Polish builders quote less than their counterparts.....

I made the mistake of getting someone with lots of reviews on which local to look at my garden which needed some tidying and a bit of building work. I didn't realise she was more suited to Hampton Court than my urban jungle - produced a bound proposal for 5 figures.

They have also included a 'suitable IP rated bathroom light'. I have no idea what this is. There are already lights in the bathroom, and I was planning to keep these.

Maybe your existing light isn't suitable or they are planning to change it to make it look like more work and get more money?
