Question for anyone who works at Tesco

Denbo have you checked which ones deliver where you are ? We have a Sainsbury's 8 miles away but the deliveries come from a one 20+ miles away. ASDA is 15 miles away but deliver to us. Might be worth checking. I know when I can't get what I want I vote with my feet and shop elsewhere. One day I might be more organised...........

I stopped using Tesco a few months ago for this very reason. If I can't buy the products I want then I'll go elsewhere - to a store which gives its customers real choice. I now go either to Sainsburies (a 10 mile drive away) or shop local and avoid the supermarket altogether. Tesco seem to have forgotten that customers have a choice and can take their money elsewhere - I know that I won't give my money to a company with such an arrogant ethos.0

i have also decided not to shop at tescos. Too big, too greedy. If things cost a little more at sainsburys, well, I can get what I want not what they decide I want.0

If you really want lack of choice, go to your local Spar/Co-op/corner shop/Lidl/Aldi/Iceland/Farm Foods...
Milk is milk. Cravendale filter theirs in a large dairy. Tesco's supplier filter theirs in a large dairy. It's probably the same large dairy.
Tesco local milk is more expensive because it is from a single farm and has to be processed as a batch, not mixed in with the 'generic' milk deliveries at the dairy. The farmer also gets a few pence more per pint. As for customers not buying it, it leaves the shelves so fast in our Tesco that they are trying to get more of the stuff. The local farm is only 10 miles from the store, so that might explain the popularity however!
Sainsburys used to be bigger than Tesco. Their business model went wrong and Tesco overtook them. Sainsburys will soon be owned by a foreign company from the Middle East. Will you still shop there as a preference?
Adsa is owned by Walmart, a large American company much bigger and much more aggressive in the way they do business than Tesco. THEY are deciding what you can buy just the same as Tesco are.
Buxton mineral water comes out of the ground through an artifical drilled borehole and is bottled in a huge bottling plant in Buxton. They charge you about £2.50 for 5 litres.
Tesco mineral water comes out of a borehole as well. It comes from Armathwaite in the Eden Valley in Cumbria. It is also bottled in a huge bottling plant run by a company called Eden Springs. They charge you less than £1 for 5 litres.
Do you realy want to pay a HUGE markup for the branded product??
Branded products come and go in Tesco. They usually come back again. They are just testing what customers want, as they want to maximise the turnover in their stores.
If customers don't buy the Tesco version, the branded version will soon come back. It does in our store!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Withabix, I understand what you are saying, but what we want is CHOICE! If I want to buy Cravendale or Buxton I want the option, I certainly don't want to give Tesco any more power than they already have, this taking away our choice is insidious, it's like the government making us into a nanny state where our every move is monitored, and Tesco appear to be moving along the same lines.
If in the future every product you buy is an "own brand" would you still feel this is ok? Imagine if virtually all the food in the UK was under a Tesco label, or whatever supermarket you use. Democracy is all about choice!
Lil-me, I have checked with Asda and at this point they don't deliver where we are yet. Hopefully they will in the future.0 -
You have the option NOT to shop at Tesco! Nobody is forced to shop there.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

I know this is sort of off the point but my sister works for a very large cigarette manufacturer and she was telling me the other day that they pay £1 million quid to Tesco just so that they stock their brand
I wonder if any of the other 'brands' have to pay Tesco to stock their items? just a thought...Jun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30

As this is more of a Shopping thread I've moved it across to the Shop but don't drop board for you.

I would say, be vocal with your complaints. Write to Tesco. Use their e-mail. Bombard them and get others to do so. Remember the people who contact to complain are viewed as the tip of the iceberg so often they may react quite quickly to the issues you raise!:D
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
This happens in all supermarkets not just Tesco.0
