Question for anyone who works at Tesco

I've noticed over the past few weeks that Tesco has stopped stocking alot of the brandad items that I buy eg they no longer stock Cravendale milk and have replaced it with Tesco fresh filtered milk. They also now only stock Tesco brand veggie !!!!!!s.I was wondering if Tesco was heading towards only selling Tesco branded goods?

I work for a supplier of tesco and from what I have heard yes they are! their Finest brand is now stronger than some normal premium brands and thats where they seem to be heading (they make more money that way!)

yes, i can no longer buy Buxtons mineral water (the really huge size with a handle) - i have to buy Tesco's equivalent. Customer choice? I don't think so :)

Annoying isnt it. They've stopped selling Noddy organic childrens yogurts and there now branded as there own label. Unfortunately DD only ate them because they had Noddy on the lid so now she wont eat any yogurt it makes me so cross.

This is not a new practice for Tesco they have been doing it for years, it's just that they are employing the tactic far more aggressively lately and have discarded the subtleties, like gradually reducing the facings of branded products to equal those of their own and replaced it with both decreasing branded facings whilst increasing own label facings. So whereas at one time you would get say 4 facings of mc v's jaffa cakes and one or two of tesco own brand gradually change to two of each, now you will see the difference overnight 4mc'vs one day and one own brand, next day 4 own brand and no mc'vs in sight, this is why more people are becoming aware, Tesco just don't feel the need to wean you off the market leaders anymore, more a case of if you don't like it hard luck

There are 2 tesco stores a short drive away from where I live. The very large tesco extra has stopped stocking Rachel's organic baby yogurts and yet the much smaller tesco still sell it. I asked why last time I was in but all they could say was that maybe it hadn't sold well, something I can't believe.

I have noticed that Tesco's own brand 4pt skimmed milk is 2 for £2, whereas local milk is £1.23 for 4 pints. On one hand they say they are stocking local produce, but they are actually making it much pricier so that customers don't buy it. I suppose then they will say "well, the customers didn't buy it so now we don't stock it" Trouble is where I live we only have Tesco or Sainsburys (too pricey), Lidl (our shop is the roughest shop in town!) or Iceland, who don't have free parking or much choice. My DD and I are left with the option of travelling 17 miles to Asda, which costs too much in petrol to be worth it.
