If their address is 76 High instead of 76 High Street for example that would not explain non-delivery. If it's just High Street with no number there would be a problem but you probably would have noticed an error like that.

Depends really, you could simply put my name and the first 4 letters of the postcode and something would likely arrive here, somewhere else a the person sorting in the office or the postman might not take the time to figure it out.

The issue, from what the OP says, appears to be an eBay glitch as we get too many with just a number and then the town, either way the OP shouldn't lose out, genuine missing post is very unusual, part of the address missing is the likely cause.

It would if 76 High was also a valid address and that was where it ended up. There are street names like that close enough for it to matter, my workplace address is one example (luckily the building has a name).
