INR But wrong address on file with ebay..

Will I still have to refund?
The buyer has missed half their address off their on file address, naturally I sent it to the address shown- not being psychic that half their street name was missing....
The item hasn't turned up, I asked their address to double check & sure enough it's slightly different to the address I sent to, when i pointed this out the buyer has said they've bought for ages from ebay & never had a problem getting items..
if that is the case you'd think they'd notice only half their address when they receive the item & maybe ammend it .. obviously not.

Does anyone know if I'll still have to refund?

Was this the eBay address or Paypal address?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Report the buyer for false address http://contact.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ContactUs&wftype=2005&rcode=IV%25P10054&subject=False%20or%20missing%20contact%20information&bcrumb=%20Home%20%3E%20Help%20%3EMembership%20%26%20account%3ERules%20%26%20policies%3EFalse%20or%20missing%20contact%20information&instruction=&expirationDate=

You can try to ring eBay regarding the address but IME it is a waste of time. They still expect tracking even with a false address. Your best bet is to report the buyer on the link, when you get a reply they usually ask you to wait 48 hours, then report them again by replying to their message. That might get the buyer NARU'd.

Have you tackled the buyer within the case about the address?

In future verify every address before you send.

I don't think that verifying addresses every time is feasible- I tend to go by eye, if it looks wrong I'll check it, if not I won't.

  • If the buyer opens a case and raises it to eBay they will automatically close in the buyers favour without tracking on the case, you can appeal and eBay have said many times sellers are protected against issues caused by incorrect addresses, in our case the overseas appeals team refused the appeal and just went on about tracking.

In the end CS in Dublin credited the sales value to our selling account.

Do report the buyer for a false address, in the past we have had a few buyers who refused to accept responsibility for their wrong address who backed down when we told them we would take action against them to recover our loses due to their lack of care in checking the address that is provided twice during the Checkout process.

eBay should remove any bad feedback relating (solely) to the issue without an argument.

House number and postcode should be enough for it to arrive after a delay possibly. A minor fault in the address shouldn't cause a problem.

If their address is 76 High instead of 76 High Street for example that would not explain non-delivery. If it's just High Street with no number there would be a problem but you probably would have noticed an error like that.

But what looks wrong might be right and what looks right may not even exist.

I use DMO so each address is verified but if I didn't use it, I would verify each and every single address, it takes a few seconds.

Not if you use a courier. Royal Mail may be able to fill in the blanks but most couriers won't bother.

How " slightly different" is it?
