Make sure all the files are visible
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/show-hidden-files-in-windows-7/
And run it with administrator privileges.
Pretty sure it can, and will account for everything. It's really good for finding programs that are hogging loads of space or really large files.
I have just done that and the only extra files it now shows are
hiberfil.sys which is 3,114,324 kb
and
pagefil.sys which is 4,152,436kb
A couple of extra folders are now showing with a padlock on them:
Documents and Settings but there does not appear to be any files in it because the folder properties do not show any files size
and
$Recycle.Bin but there is only 129 bytes in it.0 -
terry , can ask a simple question
how large is the hard drive (stated size in bios or description) , how large are all your files , and what spare space is windows saying you have0 -

I think the C: OS hard drive is 500gb but under 'Computer' it is showing 316GB free of 463GB
I have another HD on the computer
where I store all my media files it's 2TB but is showing 692GB free of 1.81TB 0 -
I have Samsung EVO 256GB SSD which contains my Windows 7 (64bit) and all my programs/softwares.
Then I have 2TB second drive as storage.
Best thing is to clean install Windows onto your new SSD.
And then use the old drive as secondary and format it all. All missing data will come back.
Make sure to back up any important data onto an external driver on burn on DVDs.
I do not care about the data that is unaccounted for but I am worried if I buy a 120gb SSD I might find I will not have enough space!
Freddy says he has WIN7 running on a 30gb SSD so 120gb should be enough for me0 -
ok terry , sorry I was hoping you did understand that a 500g was not 500g after formatting , often a rookie mistake
the machine I am using is 256g ssd and a 1t backup on win 8 , a spare machine (I am selling is 128g + 500g
either or either will do your job , however for the extra £25-30 I would plump for the 256 in case of upgrades
please do a clean install after copying any data off
spare machine? http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/new-desktop-machine-ssd-win-81-office-2012-etc/1117005768

in use , a std ssd setup will VASTLY outperform normal drives in raid 0 , personally I see no reason to waste a ssd drive0

It wont be a waste of an SSD though, Stripe not mirror.
So a pair of 128's instead of a single 256, still giving 256 capacity but with
improved speed.
I know the pitfalls that if one drive fails you lose everything.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
ok try it ,0
