Old Style Daily thread Friday 22nd May

dumpling

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's cool and damp here this morning and I actually have a cardigan on for the first time in weeks as I feel a bit chilly. Everyone is still in bed except for Max and me so I'm enjoying the peace. Max managed to sleep through the night, downstairs on his own in his crate. I am so pleased with him, he is a gorgeous puppy.
Well my bestest friend pitched up yesterday with her heavily pregnant daughter and her dog, I was so so happy to see them all. Her dog is my old dog Sam's brother and they look very similar. When hubby came home from work he took him out for a walk and when he came back admitted he had a tear in his eye as it felt like when he used to take Sam out.
I was babysitting my grandson yesterday as well as my eldest DD and partner went to book their wedding for next year. I have never seen her so excited over anything like this, it's really nice to see. My friend said how happy she was looking too. It made me feel very proud to see our daughters chatting away as they have been friends since they were little girls and they have both grown up into beautiful, strong, independant women.
We had an indian takeaway yesterday but I only ate the starter and sides so I have saved the chicken curry and rice to have for tea today. I will make a bolognese sauce for everyone else as we have some garlic bread that needs to be eaten up. I have shopping being delivered this morning and then we should all be set for the Bank Holiday weekend.
Thank you all for listening to my wittering on about my puppy. I hope it isn't too boring. I am just so in love with him and to see his little furry face every morning gives me such joy. He also has a puppy kong which I fill with treats.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning dumpling, and those who follow.
Woken at 3am by earthquake, never thought I would write those words! All safe and property seems ok, the birds were going mad. Couldn't really get back to sleep
Off to Down House, home of Charles Darwin today, home made picnic too.
Have a good day everyoneCarolbee0 -
Good morning all, sun is shining and the sky is blue and its Friday
another week has whizzed by.This morning I am off to have my hair trimmed (it grows so quickly ) then this afternoon I am going to History club, which this week is about post-war Germany. We do have some really good topics at our group.
The forecast is looking good weatherwise at the moment .My eldest DD is off on her holidays tonight to her caravan in Deal.It will do her the world of good to relax as she does a very stressful job.
carolbee enjoy Down House I went with my DD and DGS last year and we loved it, we followed it up after our picnic lunch with a trip to Chislehurst Caves afterwards as the boys love going there and its not that far from Down.
I sorted out my new look ramp for the garden with my gardener, not cheap but then again it is if you think of the possibility of me having an accident falling down the steps to the garden (they are seriously crumbling ) a bit like me at times:):) he is comiing to do it on the 8-9 June so not too long to wait. The special non-slip strips are £27 each !!!.
This time next week I shall be getting ready to go in for my op. I am getting quite excited about it which sounds daft, but its been a long time and it will be my final one.
This weekend I am helping DD to declutter her garden and will be running stuff up to the tip with the boys doing to humping, and me doing the driving:):)
Hope you all have a great week-end whatever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning one and all. Fine just now but looks none too promising!
Woken up at 6.00 by the 3 DGDs all chattering and laughing in the bedroom next door! After a bad night with much dreaming I just wanted to sleep! All peaceful at the moment, the eldest with her nose in a book, as usual, and the younger two watching cartoons.
Once they have gone to school there is the usual Friday cleaning routine and, boy, does it need it! Bits and dust everywhere!
DD is taking the girls to the caravan after school for a week so, hopefully, an easy week ahead. We did discuss having a few days away but we've both been under par this week and decided to stay put. Plus we have had a lot of unforeseen expense with all the electrical stuff breaking down and needing replacing! Will settle for a few days and meals out instead.
Have a good day all, take care and ((((((((HUGS))))))) to those in need xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Dumpling - you chat away as much as you like - I love hearing about poster's pets - I love my furry friends with all my heart x
Elona and Hilly - hope you doing ok xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
Nice day here and I am so glad its Friday its been such a long week even thought I had a day off !
Stressful day yesterday one of my clients had seizure a at work yesterday and countless 'mini' ones after (at least 50) poor chap it was very scary for all involved. Hope he is feeling better today.
Mum had her house valued yesterday, not to sell but just to see how much extra the work she has had done will have put on, she has made £80k in 5 months :T bless her she is thrilled to bits and has a beautiful home to live in.
Not sure about dinner tonight will go and rummage in freezer after this, DD is coming as she is at work tomorrow and we live much closer to work.
Got the wood being delivered for my new kitchen cupboards tomorrow so OH and I will be doing that tomorrow.
Need to put a wash on tonight and have a hoover round.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Semi restless night so I was half asleep when I heard the radio presenter talk about an earthquake, thought I had dreamt it. Glad there's no damage.
It's still grey outside but the forecast is for sun.
The SSE meter changer turned up yesterday and very quickly took out the old E7 meter and installed the new standard one. It's a tiny white box so I've no chance I'd reading it and it's too high up to see without a step ladder. OH can reach but he's often away. Luckily (?) I'm now old enough to qualify for quarterly meter readings and someone will come out to do it. That'll help.
The new electric lawn mower was delivered yesterday too. I've left it boxed up for OH to deal with and he can christen it. The delivery man said he had the same one and it's easy to use. It also folds down so won't take up much room.
Dumpling - I love hearing about your doggy stories and I love to read about the pleasure he's bringing to your household, so talk away.
Today will be a little shopping. Then I want to see if I can get tickets for a couple of weekend events at the Sealife and Marine Science research facility - it's just beyond Oban and it a really interesting place.
I really hope everyone has a good Friday.0 -
Morning :hello:
redruby YAY for your mum :T Hope your client's OK x
Our Kong is the black one, Scampi would destroy anything else in no time at allI hate wearing shoes in the house but I've started slipping some on when I notice he's got the treat out, lol. Compressed fish skin?! What Scampi doesn't know won't hurt him
Oh and I like hearing pet stories too

The chickens have a new waterer, the electrical shop rang and said our oven part has arrived, and I got up early to avoid animal chaos
Car trip today, Scampi sometimes gets car sick so I'll have to lay towels across the back seat. I never know whether he should come with us or not – on one hand, he needs to get used to the car so the more he's in it the better he'll be, on the other hand he also needs to get used to being left home alone. We need to pick up the oven thing, buy a new collar and I've run out of cress seeds – cress is vital on my saladI need to return the collar we borrowed to try out, but I don't know which house the man lives in, only the road. I'm hoping to catch him while we're out walking. Not sure what else we're doing today, it depends on how much mr tru annoys me :rotfl:

RR - well done to your Mum, I hope she is really happy in her new home.
Bank holiday weekend here, typical weather, have one or two jobs to do today, DD has gone off to work so I am enjoying the peace.
She is going out after work and then her pal is coming here to stay, have made up her bed already so that's one job done.
