Renovating house front- new window/ adding cladding

As I'm new to this it won't let me post a link or a picture, but if anyone would mind going on Rightmove and searching for the postcode NG15 9FF, (for sale) it's the only house that comes up.
Looking at buying this property which is a good price for the location, mainly as bathrooms/kitchen/general decor need sprucing up.
Could live with those things but cannot stand the fact that it looks (to me!!) like they forgot to put a window on the first floor where that white cladding is?! Strange 60s/70s design.
Basically wanting ideas of the cost to add a window into the white cladding and then also extend the cladding (probably painted a pale colour) across the left-hand half of the first floor, so that the top of the house is cladding and the lower half is brick.
(Apparently it'll be breeze block under the cladding so can't just take it off, so instead finding a way to tie it in with the rest of the house!)
Any estimates or even alternative ideas appreciated!

Can't help you on the cost, or chances of it planning permission (which I think you would need).
But that said I think it would make bedroom 2 a little awkward to use, with 2 dual aspect windows.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for posting the link!
Yes that's the one- hadn't thought about planning permission. Will look into that.
Our bedroom has two windows now so that wouldn't bother us
Thanks0 -
Looks like there is a window in that room, just not on the front of the house. I'd go and have a look at it before I started considering planning.0

Also, re planning permission, quite a few houses have built out over the garage.
Do you think this might indicate that planning permission for this (relatively smaller) job, might be easier to come by?0 -
Yes thanks hohum, there is already a window but we'd either keep both or else I guess we could brick up the current one when putting in a new one.0

Having had a quick look on street view on that street and nearby I can't see that any similar houses have added in a window.
That could be an indication that you may not get permisson, or it may just be that nobody else has felt they wanted to do this.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Looking on streetview there are several houses just round the corner on Mavis Avenue that appear to have added windows but haven't added extra cladding.0

I'd have a look at the house in person first - you might find that the room has enough light with that window. Depending on aspect, it might be preferable? My experience is that space and light can't be terribly well predicted through photos.
It looks like a nice house!
Re extension over the garage, I'm so not an expert but wouldn't that be more of a palaver than putting in a window, depending on size of extension and existing foundations?
Personally if I was doing structural work, I'd do them both together but I'd also have to really need more than four bedrooms. Adding an extra window just wouldn't be worth the cost to me - it wouldn't add to the value much.0 -

There are some with windows in the cladding, but they don't have windows on the side, so they may be original?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
