OK, but to be honest, you have to approach any form of meditation without expectation and without expecting a particular outcome.
The way I manage this approach is to view it as something that helps with my general well being. I like the description of meditation as a form of mental training or mental hygiene or that it makes transparent how the majority of our thoughts are actually pointless and potentially harmful.
If you want meditation to directly fix things, then I feel a person gets unstuck as you will always want to measure its effect against one small area.
We live in a disposable age where we have instant forms of communication and can buy goods and services at the drop of the hat. Finding peace through meditation may take hundreds of hours of sitting on a mat and expecting X result will ruin the journey.0 -
as far as I'm aware, I'm the only person he's told within our circle of friends because he fears it's 'not normal' and doesn't want to draw attention to it!
Its perhaps a good sign if he keeps it to himself because it means he doesn't suffer from the exhibitionism I see with some people who consider themselves Vulnerable with a capital V.he's researched as much as he can on the Internet about itI think he's worried that if he went to a doctor they'd think he was a nutter and section him
It must be a terrible burden to think that the way you feel will have you committed to a mental institution against your will but also a sadly false burden. My understanding of the sectioning process is that even the most distressed and virtually non-functioning and suicidal can struggle to be committed. Therefore there is virtually no chance he'd experience this from believing he is highly sensitive. Such a shame that he feels that's the likely outcome if he seeks professional help with his issues. However, GPs are general practitioners so its hit or miss if he gets the outcome he'd like.0 -

David Cameron experiences these symptoms at Prime Minister's Question Time too.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
