Help needed please. I paid for a ticket now I have a parking fine from parking eye

Some help and advice please. Last month I went to a retail park in Walsall. I paid £1.00 for an hours parking and displayed the ticket on my dashboard which was still there when I came back. I returned to my vehicle within the hour and went on my way. Three days ago I receive a letter in the post showing a picture of my vehicle entering and leaving the car park. They didn't state exactly why I was being fined just that I needed to pay £50 if paid within 14 days or £85 after that. Well shocked I was ! I regularly use this retail park and its car park and pay for a ticket. I always return on time and display my ticket correctly. Why am I now facing a charge? What bothers me more is I know it's £1.00 for 1 hour and I was seen leaving the retail park at 59 minutes so I was within my hour id paid for. I'd also used a shop for which I still have the receipt that totalled to £30.28 I can not understand why I would choose to spend £30.28 in a shop but risk getting a parking fine for the sake of £1.00?? I have always paid and left on time. Please help... I have not replied to them or appealed..... Yet. Thank you in advance for any advice.

no, you have not been fined and it wont say so either
its a parking charge invoice
just appeal it using the template letter in the newbies sticky thread above this one
dont say who was driving either
and enclose copies of any parking tickets that were bought (the receipt) stating that the driver paid correctly and the charge (invoice) should be dropped0 -
First step: go back to the retailer and complain very loudly. This is best initial course of action (but don't leave the receipt only a copy).
Second step Do a soft appeal but using the receipt as the initial appeal point to PE. (keep the original)
At the same time read the NEWBIES section on how to do your appeal.
In all fairness the retailer and or PE will probably cancel. Keep all the info.REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0 -
Can't understand if you paid the £1 fee and displayed yet you were caught by an ANPR system. Were you supposed to put in your VRN?
Did you put the right number in?REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0 -
Thank you to all for the replies and advice I appreciate it. In reply to the last message as far as I'm aware I input the correct registration details into the parking ticket machine. Though I must say there is always chance of a human error as it is a new vehicle I have only had for two and a half months. I regularly use this retail park and could tell you the prices of the parking off the top of my head. I'm not a chancer and wouldn't risk it for a whole hour. I do hope I manage to clear this as I don't deserve it and feel angry. I don't want to use the shops on the retail park and refuse to go there since receiving my letter. I will take on board the advice given and any more advice is welcome too as I want to give myself a good chance of clearing this. Thank you.0

chances are you used the wrong VRN on the machine, hence the charge
you are no different than the hundreds of others who pass here this week, so calm down and follow the tried and tested appeals route laid down in the newbies sticky thread
its the same process, although showing copies of the ticket bought and shopping receipts may well get them to drop the invoice at the first appeal, just dont fall into the trap of implying who was driving
none of the "me , myself and I" wordings
stick to that template and add an extra point stating you have enclosed copies of the receipts that an occupant of the vehicle received on that day, stating that the VRN may have been input incorrectly and to check their records again0 -
Sorry if I'm going on and on I do seem stressed about this. I shall follow your instructions and hope for the best. Thank you Redx. Do I included the correct registration in my appeal letter so they can check their records. Sorry if that's a really stupid question. Don't you just hate newbies lol0

you can do, but they already have ANPR pictures of your vehicle so already know the VRN, plus they obtained it from the DVLA and wrote to you so I assume all that proves is they already have the VRN
its the one you put into the machine that may be different, hence if you have the ticket stub , check it , as they compare the ANPR pictures to the machine details for each ticket
if you have it, and its different, say so in the appeal, but dont fall into the trap of using I DID THIS, I HAVE THAT etc
word it in the third person
what I hate about newbies is the lack of using the new paragraph , new line , return key

Lol sorry
it's late and my minds gone to mush.. Of course they have the reg! Silly me
Right, before I do all the above tomorrow I must mention I only have a reciept from a shop I do not have the parking ticket I purchased. My new car gets a regular clean out and vac and all rubbish including the ticket from the previous month would have been discarded. I wasn't expecting to be fined.
Sorry I do talk a lot I must remember to keep it short and sweet

you also need to learn you have not been "fined"
its an invoice, same as a plumber gives you for fixing a leaking tap
just mention that THE DRIVER may have put in an incorrect VRN on the machine as the vehicle is fairly new, plus attach a scanned copy or photocopy of the shop receipt showing proof of patronage
remove the rant part from the template letter if you wish
then put "see attached appeal" in their appeal section on their website and attach the appeal doc and the scanned receipt
in future , keep any parking ticket receipts for up to 6 months, its proof of contract (proof you paid)0 -
Not a problem I will definately keep all tickets from this day foward. I shall post an update in a few weeks once I've had a reply from them.
Thanks Redx you've been a great help
