Buyers going on holiday

GAH!!!!
I NEED to rant!! When we agreed a sale to FTB they wanted to move in May (this was in March) and I said it may be too soon but I couldn't see why June would be an issue and we would aim for that...
Our mortgage is finally sorted and I am keen now to move in June as planned. Let the buyers know yesterday and they drop the bombshell that they are going on holiday for over 2 weeks in June. Right in the middle of the month!!! They now say they are not willing to complete in June as they need more savings and it may help if we gave them all of our white goods......
We are relocating and my son needs to start school in June at the latest so they can assess him and he can start to build some friendships so they can put him in the right class for the following year.

Offer them some white goods?0
-
No... I need them myself and they are what my grandmother bought me before she passed away so they will certainly not be staying. :mad:0

Then buy some cheap white goods of ebay for £20 and offer those.......0

Haha... I like your thinking there
That might be worth a shot. 0 -
Giving them the benefit of the doubt it seems there may have been some confusion/misunderstanding between you and your buyers. You said May is too early can we do June? they may have then got the idea you weren't in a rush or hadn't heard anything? Who knows?
The more worrying thing to me would be that they don't want to complete in June as they need to save more money! This worries me greatly. What if they get to July and haven't saved enough money? Being on a shoestring is really worrying, what about other costs such as removals - have they budgeted for that? Now either they really don't have enough money which is one worry or they are stalling for some reason.
I'm not sure about the school issue though. Surely he can make friends when he starts in September rather than having to make them in June? and surely if he starts at the begining of the year he can get tested them or use his current school reports/grades or put him in the class they feel would be best and move him after a week or 2 if it's not right?
There must be some flexibility in the system surely? Some children must start at odd or inconvenient (to the school's) times?
I don't have any advice but it sounds incredibly frustrating and stressful and I hope you can get it all sorted quickly.

How much can I save in 2012 challenge
75/1200 :eek:0 -
Your right... It is VERY frustrating!!
Well..... I was thinking that too.... But if they have the money to go on holidays then they have the money to complete in my eyes. IF they don't cancel the holiday. I can't believe they have planned this holiday so close to completing anyway!! I have made myself so ill with stress over this move and they seem so chilled about it all..... Arghhhhh0 -

People aren't going to put their lives on hold waiting for you. Already the 20th May. So the likelihood of the chain being ready in a matter of a few weeks time is unlikely.0 -
It's chain free and the solicitor was all set for completion in June.
We are moving into a vacant property. We agreed June at the very start as the EA said straight away that May was far too early. I'm not asking anyone to put their life on hold but I would have thought they would have held off booking a holiday the month we are due to complete!0 -
Could it not be planned for the other two weeks in June?Determined to save and not squander!

Well I have suggested that and they are saying no.0
